i feel i take some fairly good pictures of different places and i was just wondering if there was some type of website or other source i can show them to.

if the photos are not personal type,there is no problem in submitting it to websites ,otherwise once ur personal or others' personal photos once submitted to any site is sure to b circulated for ever on web!
if u still want to make a website of ur photo-works,u can do it very easily..google give a good platform,,GOOGLE PICASA.
This software has an inbuilt system to make our own photowebsite where we can upload our photos(we can download free here http://angle-mine.blogspot.com )
This software is also useful in giving many latest effects to our works .

be forewarned that both take a lot of work, as you HAVE to review other peoples work to get reviews on yourown. also, www.betterphoto.com is an excellent site

my friend uses www.treklens.com..they judge your fotos as well and yu can judge others' too!
