I have had 5 pregnancies and never minded anyone touching my tummy unless I despised the person. I think pregnancy is a wonderful time and so do alot of people. I can't go up and just touch anyones tummy but when my sister fell pregnant I would rub her stomach all the time as she would mine, We loved watching the baby move after we had rubbed around the stomach. After my last child was born I had come home and was in the shower as my stomach I always looked at and would wash it constantly and I really missed it when I was in the shower. I think more so because I am never going to be pregnant ever again. its a beautiful time and I think there is nothing more beautiful than a pregnant woman. I just love the miricleof a person growing inside of you as you have given that person life.

I've always thought it's creepy and inappropriate for people to rub a pregnant woman's belly (unless it's her man or her mother or somebody like that) but there are some people who will just run up on a pregnant woman and rub her stomach like it's OK!
I used to have an office job, and a number of my coworkers happened to be pregnant, and there would always be people rubbing on their bellies. They were nice about it, but It always seemed pretty rude to me.

I've never been pregnant, but I have noticed that a pregnant woman's belly seems to be considered community property. I suppose that people are so excited about the baby that they don't remember that it would be completely inappropriate to just run up and touch the belly of a non-pregnant woman.

They honestly probably don't think you'll mind. The people who just walk right up and pretend you're Buddha are probably people who truly love babies and children, and just want to share your joy with you. :) I had this happen more times than I care to count during both of my pregnancies, and nobody was ever malicious about it--they were just nice people with bad judgment, that's all. The miracle of life is a very curious thing, and people are fascinated by it.

Some stranger rubbed mine once and I rubbed her non-pregnant belly back. I bet she never did that again. People are just rude. You don't just invade someones personal space like that.

Mostly I think its meant to be nice.....if it's creepy---smack that hand! lol I hated it too...but after you've had your baby and there has been a parade of people seeing you preparing to and delivering your baby.... you too, may some day see a pregnant lady and get that overhelmingly mixed emotion of excitement, fear, love, pain and exhaustion and rather than scare the poor dear, you might find yourself just smiling and patting her belly.

I never met any pregnant women who wanted their belly rubbed. I would be more than happy to if you'd enjoy it.

If I was pregnant I think that would be kind of an offensive thing to ask. Although, it would probably be pretty offensive to see me pregnant anyway...so I'm not sure.
