If i told you Ive done this in my long distance boyfriend what would you say? Cause i have and he was in the same position as you while i was in the shoes of your boyfriend. i was in a relationship with my boyfriend for 3 years and after months of thinking about a way out i took the easiest yet most coward ***** like option and that was to break his heart via sms... why i did it i still to this day don't know, because there wasn't another man involved, an argument or anything else, but I'm certain that the distance factor and not being able to see him when ever i wanted played apart in it... Luckily we are back together now, so never give up hope. Believe it or not but people in long distance relationships sometimes need time alone too. its weired and i don't understand how cause it doesn't sound right but absence makes the heart grow fonder as well in a distant relationship. I hope it all works out and I'm sure you will get an answer soon, good luck.

Girl! you need to leave that mess alone. He obviously is retarded for texting you instead of being a man and just let you know face to face that he no longer wants to continue w/ the relationship. that is the worst thing any person can do to someone is to brake up w/ somebody over the phone, internet, or any other non facial contact to get something important such as this out. Even though it's hard, move on. don't worry about why he did what he did. it's for the best. He did you a favor, maybe somebody else will take his place and will treat you better.

The 'long distance' thing is always an issue.
Some make it and some don't!!
If this relationship was always a long distance thing , then I'd say he's probably found someone else and doesn't want to tell you.
He's either afraid (no guts) of being honest with you, or he
really didn't want to hurt you.
I just believe he's got another girlfriend now..
I wouldn't even bother wanting to know why he did this because he's not going to tell you the truth anyway..
If he was a respectful guy he would have 'already' told you WHY?

1. Long distance relationships rarely last in the first place.
2. He probably had been seeing another girl on the side, and when she finally asked him to be her boyfriend he said yes and got rid of you the easy way without having to explain it to you.
3. He just got sick of the long distance relationship and instead of wasting too much time in calling you up and arguing he decided to be a cheap jerk and text message instead.

I had the same thing happen to me about 4 yrs ago. we were together for 3 months and Things were fine and then one day i just wasnt good enough anymore, no fight, no explination, nothing at all. It was just over. Via IM on Yahoo. The guy was a complete jerk and i now know i am better off with out him. Yes, its hard, but you are also better off with out him. I cried for a while and even tried to get him to talk to me and tell me what hte problem was, but only to have him be a complete jerk to me and hang up on me and things. so take it from someone who knows.... your ex is not worth it.

We can't possibly tell you what is wrong until you find it out yourself. But if he ignores you then just think that you both are not meant to be and you need to move on.
For me, it is a clear sign that he has found someone else...someone closer to him. Distance is always a big challenge in relationships and it takes a tough commitment for things to work out.
Don't cry for him. He doesn't deserve your tears.
And stop wondering what went wrong. Move on.

If he broke up with you in a text message after 2 1/2 years of dating, you have ALREADY spent WAY too much time getting over him! MOVE ON!

I am going to guess and say he found someone else. Otherwise it would be odd without an argument. That sucks he won't give you closure, I think that is the hardest. E-mail him just saying look,I understand you no longer want to be with me, but just tell me why.. you atleast own me that. And just let go.. even if he doesn't respond.. Stay strong!

Maybe you thot it was sheer happiness and he did not. some relationships are that way. You must think what went wrong.
Maybe he knows you wont cry for him.
