It is clear that during the test during the life of this world, people will be clearly divided in three groups: 1) those, who excel in piety, truthfulness, justice and submission to God; 2) those, who excel in transgression, rejection and are clearly averse to accepting God's truths; and 3) those, who are neither clearly among the first nor clearly among the second group.

As for the first two groups, these are people, who are themselves witnesses upon their own behavior. These are people, whose ultimate destiny - whether it be heaven or hell - is decided during the life of this world and they start enjoying or suffering the fruits of their deeds, immediately after death. If falling in the first category, they shall be in a state of blissful slumber till the Day of Rising, while if falling in the second category, they shall be in a state of torturous slumber till the Day of ultimate Rising.

The fate of the third category of people, which apparently would be the largest in number in the Hereafter, would be decided on the Day of Judgment. Such people, till the Day of Rising will be in a state of dreamless sleep till the Day of Rising.

Good question pal,
But you are making a big mistake in not going to the Word of God and checking it out for yourself.
You got everything right until you started to think. The Story Jesus Christ told of Lazarus and the rich man is a true story. Its not a parable like others He told.
The rich man was not a blood brother to Lazarus but a brother none the same.
Paradise is where we all go when we die. Those that have accepted God's Saviour, Jesus Christ will be on the side of the gulf that Abraham is on.
The other side of the gulf, this is where people go that have unrepentant sins. Like this rich man who care nothing for anyone but himself.
This place you call Hell, is not the Lake of Fire reserved for Satan and his angels, but a holding place. They there feel no pain, or thirst, for they are in their spiritual bodies. Its a metaphor.
All I can say to you is there is this and so much more truth just waiting for you in the Word of God. Did you know that the Word of God is Jesus Christ. You'll find this out and maybe the answer to the question you are thinking about right now. Its all in the volume of the Book, The Bible.><>

Actually-
The hebrew word for hell is Sheol. It means "place of the dead". We all go to sheol. Catholics turned hell into the scary place of punishment. The bible, before it got all hacked up, stated that we all go to sheol to await the day of judgement, where most of us will be allowed to enter paradise, which is actually a remodeled earth, with no pain or evil-the original intention for Adam and Eve before the apple. One verse was used by Christianity to turn hell into what it is known as today-it says that those souls deemed unworthy of paradise will be destroyed in the fire and brimstone of which the smoke goes up forever and ever. It meant that it will be like you never existed. You don't get to come back. Not you will be tortured forever. From ONE VERSE in the original bible, Christianity has turned out an entirely new belief system. Very few people go to heaven-one hundred thousand. Considering about 6 billion of us are alive today, our odds aren't that great. Heaven is for God, angels, and so on-most of which existed before the creation of human life.
Sheol is our resting place. The bible says in sheol the dead see nothing, hear nothing, and know nothing. We are on "pause" until God is ready for us. We are all judged at the same time. Not individually as we die. There's an entire chapter in the bible about that, it's called revelation. I'm amazed all the time how people can call themselves "religious" just because they believe what they were told-we were all told something different. Read and find out for yourself.

It is also referred to as Abraham's bosom (Luke 16:22), or Hades. It is divided into paradise and a place of torment with a great gulf fixed between the two. It is a place of waiting until the final judgement. The saved go to heaven and the others to Hell.
I think there are four Greek words that were translated to "hell" in the KJV: Sheol, Hades, Geena, and Tartaroo.
Here's the story if you are interested:
Luk 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
Luk 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luk 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luk 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luk 16:23 And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luk 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luk 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Luk 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
Luk 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luk 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

the way its been explained to me, is that those who die before judgement day (and believe in Christ) go to heaven IN SPIRIT
then on Judgement day, Jesus comes back and judges everyone (hence its name) and then Eternity begins, where believers have both heavenly bodies and spirits.

Jesus said to the man beside him on the next cross "this day you will be with me in paradise"

and those who die before JD are called "asleep in Christ"

so I'd say Lazarus' brother was in a spirtual hell (for those who die before JD but don't believe in JC)

but I'm no expert.

when you die, you either go to heaven or hell. judgement day is the day jesus will return to judge those who are still alive. judgement day is also referred to as the day you die, which is where god will judge you based on your life on earth.
