Why do dogs eat grass sometimes? Is it because they're sick and they eat it to throw up? or is grass a medicine for them and it "cures" whatever they have. I dont remember which one was correct.

Dogs eat grass when their stomach is upsetting them...

It has 2 different affects that everyone so far knows real well.

If they eat something Like bacon fat they eat grass to puke it back up. Because they can't digest it very well.
If they feel they are backed up they eat grass for fiber... And it works.

A dogs diet is different than human, but thats something totally different...

Good Question...

frankly, dogs eat grass 'cuz they like it. my dog is 2 and has eaten grass just about every single time she's been outside. sometimes she throws up, but most of the time she's ok. the vet also said as much, that's pretty much that they like it. i think the medicine thing is partially an old wive's tale, because from my own experience, it's just like a little weird snacking thing they do. lol. but their tummys don't accept it too well. there is, however, such a thing as pet grass, that they sell in places like petco and such. some are only for cats, and others are for both. my dog likes that more than she likes regular grass, and it's ok for her to munch on sometimes.

Dogs eat grass to aid in their digestion. It helps to clean their tummies and remove unwanted stuff. It may seem weird but it is a way for them to do it. Besides, grass is free!

Usually it's cuz they have an upset tummy and grass usually helps them to feel better. Usually by throwing it back up.

Dogs eat grass to settle their stomachs. It is natures Pepto Bismol. If they hurl afterwards it doesn't mean they will every time they eat grass.

Canine bulimia? I think they just eat it to supplement their diets. The vomiting is an unwanted - and infrequent - occurrence.

It settles their stomach and may induce vomitting...cat's do it for the same reason especially if they're dealing with hairballs.
