Chromosomes are actually virtually synonymous with DNA. Chromosomes are made of one complete DNA molecule -- Dioxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) are the name of the molecule itself while "chromosome" is more of a description of the molecule itself (a term used while describing the molecule, ie whether it's circular or linear, it's relative size, etc). Gene is the smaller unit, a unit of heredity, making up a relatively small portion of the whole DNA molecule.
