During the summer, I mow my neighbors lawn, and I always buy my dog's dogfood in that time. However, during this season, my parents always end up feeding my dog. It doesn't seem fair. There is no snow to shovel, so that is not an option, but I need ideas for making enough money to feed my dog on my own- my parents COULD pay, but it just seems wrong to me. I am old enough to take care of it myself...
I need something that does not require much time- even though I'm homeschooled, I still spend hours each day doing school. I have the same hours as school kids, so please think about that when answering.
Thank You in advance...

Well there a number of different things you can do depending on your age. If your old enough to work, I recomend you work at some place close to you. You dont have to work much, just work maybe a couple hours on the weekend or so. If you dont want to go out and get a job then I suggest you sell stuff on E-bay. If you dont know what E-Bay is, it is an online auction/marketplace that makes it very easy to buy and sell almost anything. I make alot of money on E-Bay by buying items such as Legos at garage sales and selling them online. For example, I bought a $10 pirate ship at a yard sale and sold it for $297.00 on ebay. Buy in bulk, and then sell the Legos pieces individualy. You can also sell clothes on ebay. Visit your local thrift shop or garage sale and try to buy name brand clothes. Wash them, iron them, and then sell them for more money online. I hope this helps and Im glad to see that you are responsible enough to want to take care of your own dog rather then let your parents pay for it. Maintain this same type of maturity and attitude and you will go far in life.

A small Lizard: Many lizards require an aquarium with a heat lamp for warmth and either dry sand or a boggy environment with some water(depending on the type). They aren't hard to keep as long as their cage is kept at the right temperature so they can eat and digest their food properly. They are also not usually very active nor entertaining and tend to not move around much. Chinchilla, Hamster, or Guinea Pig: These are much more active but require much more care as a result. They will cost more and can be kept in an aquarium as well, if its large enough, or a wire cage intended for guinea pigs. All rodents come with an odor however, and they require cedar bedding which must be changed weekly. They are not advisable to be kept in your bedroom because they chew and dig and make all sorts of little rodent noises. Hamsters do the least amount of this, and they are easily entertained by a wheel to run in or a flavored goodie to munch on. They will sleep practically all day and be active mostly at night. Tarachula: Not much experience with these personally. They are fairly active I understand and may also require a light for warmth in certain months, and I believe they may be kept in a simple aquarium with a place where they may retreat and hide in the dark depths. Small amphibian: These are cold-blooded and MUST have a heated environment so that they do not suffer hypothermia and die. They are typically more active than lizards tho not as much as rodents, and are usually kept in an aquarium containing water and some way for them to get out of it. Hope that helps a little, Not trying to sound negative on any, just making sure you know all the cons before you purchase something that may not be right for you ;)

Don't listen to Bob stay as far away from selling on eBay as possible ! The fees will out do any of the profits also they do not have a number to contact for help, will not return emails and their are more scammers on eBay than anywhere else! Try Amazon.con their very professional always have someone to help with 24 hrs operators! Also look up "wholesale electronics" or "drop shippers" I personally am a drop shipper through Amazon and i just started 3 months ago and i have made over 8 thousand dollars PROFIT! Give it a try! But do A LOT of research first to learn about drop shipping and being a volume seller properly! Good luck and good for you on doing this yourself! You can also do chores for your parents! And remember their is a lot more to owning a pet than food! Their is love discipline exercise water medical exams shots medications (ie flea and tick treatment) heart worm preventatives! Beds crates leashes collars etc etc etc! Good Luck!!!

How about a dog walking job, might there be someone in your neighborhood that may need there dog walked in the afternoon or on weekends. Do you receive an allowance for doing chores around the house? if not, might you be able to work out an arrangement with your parents to assign you certain chores that you do and in return they pay you an allowance.
I hope this helps, they are all I can really think of other than shoveling snow. Good Luck.
PS-I wish my brother were as responsible with his pet as you seem to be with yours. God BLess.

You sound like a responsible person. Try going to your older neighbors and asking them if they need your young legs to to some errands or help them somehow in the house. Tell them your attitude about wanting to pay for your pet's upkeep, they probably have something that you could do.

Good for you! You sound very responsible, almost beyond your age probably.
I would suggest either babysitting for the neighborhood parents or your relatives kids, or offering simple tasks for other dog lovers in your area, like bathing their dogs, taking them for walks, pet-sitting, and all the other things people tend to neglect to do when they are busy.
I hope you do well and are able to have the pleasure of purchasing your dog's kibble. It is very gratifying to use your own money to take care of the dog you love so much.

NEVER give a dog cooked bones!!!!!!!! unless you want an expensive vet bill later. Cooked bones can splinter and tear the oesophagus (the pipe that leads from mouth to stomach).
Only give them raw bones. Not cooked ones as zzhoundzz suggests.
You could do the paper run, rake leaves for the elderly, do errands for any elderly in your area, help with the groceries.
Will your parents give you pocket money for vaccuming the carpets or doing the dishes?
sincerely
Tania.

You didn't mention how old you were but have you thought about walking other people's dogs for them, running errands for people that are too busy to do it themselves or maybe do some babysitting. How about a paper route?

What about a paper route? Or babysitting nights? Or even being a dog walker for your neighbors? (be a great way to socialize your dog as well) It's great that you want to be so responsible for your dog, my hats off to you!
