I see christians asking "why are atheists here?" and "why are you here if you don't want to hear truth?" and "why are you here if you don't want to hear preaching?" They act as if there is only one religion in this world and that they have the market on spirituality.

Well, I'm here to talk to pagans/wiccans and buddhists and mystics and hindus and muslims and taoists and deists and atheists and agnostics and all the other people that aren't xtian.

So to you fellow "non-believers" and "heathens"....why are you here?

I'm not a non-believer, but I'm also not a Christian. I find the discussions and questions on pagans/wiccans and buddhists and mystics and hindus and muslims and taoists and deists and atheists and agnostics ... far more interesting than Christianity. Not *knocking* Christianity because I know it has value for those who follow it. It's just that I was raised in the Christian faith and I already know all of their beliefs, so I find questions and discussions on the other beliefs far more interesting.

Why am I here? .... to learn! We can never stop learning and exploring the world beyond our back yard!

I came here to hear the views of others and to share my view (good ol' two sided debate) and I came here to learn to understand how theists think and why they believe. I also came here hoping to learn about religions I don't know much about but sadly, serious discussions about those get drowned in between fights, insults and self-righteous "I know the truth and y'all just a bunch of misguided people with false beliefs". When I came to this section for the first time I realized that there is a lot of ignorance and misconceptions out there about atheists and I've been trying to correct them and answering questions people have about atheists and the evolution.

I'm not here to insult or pick on anyone or to convert anyone, but I will defend my beliefs when attacked. I just want to learn more about religions so that I can understand theists better and get along with them (I wish more of them had the same interest in getting along with others), have debates and let my views be heard. I wish this section could become civilized, it's ridiculous how much people pick on each other here.

I am here to talk to the same people you are and also to make sure that those that are not Wiccan or Pagan but are curious about us get a honest answer from some of us.

I'm here because I just can't get enough of talking about religion! Religion is a passion of mine. I'm majoring in religious studies in fact.

I find it an enjoyable way to pass some time. I like to see what everyone is thinking about religion. And sometimes I have things I just want to know!

Yes. They can go to a Christian chat room if they want. And they can go to a chat room of the particular sect they belong to. That way they won't get "upset" hearing differing views. There are over 10,000 religions in the world. Yahoo Answers, for now, lets a few non-Christians speak.

i am here to learn. answer honest questions on my faith or others i am knowledgable.

like you, i am tired of being preached at. i am a Muslim we have strong morals and values. despite this, many Christians do refer to us as Christians and let us know they believe we will go to hell (not a decision for a human to make). i do have a high respect for the Christian religion in its pure form.... it seems though that there are many of that faith in need of a lesson on humility.

peace and blessings to all,
Sakina

i think that all of you need to just leave eachother alone and only answer questions about your religion or whatever. you guys pick and fight and argue in this section like a bunch of five year olds. pull some ones hair already for petes sake. live and let live just ignore the posts of people that believe a different religion and talk to the people of your own. and not talking trash about the other ones. and that goes to everyone not just aithiests or not just christains or muslims or jews or frickin what the crap ever you are. wtf people?

AS a Celtic Pagan-Christian. I'm here to help separate the misinterpretations of both sides and any other religion I have any knowledge of.

To see if there is truth in this statement:

"I call Christianity the one great curse, the one great intrinsic depravity, the one great instinct for revenge for which no expedient is sufficiently poisonous, secret, subterranean, petty — I call it the one immortal blemish of mankind."
