Be honest with the officer. It really is up to him whether or not he writes a ticket. Don't be overly anxious to talk to him or make up excuses when he walks up to the window.--Also DO NOT play dumb. If you ask what did I do wrong--You're gonna get a ticket. When they ask for license and registration hand it to them and tell them you have had alot on yoru plate to think about and didn't realize how fast you were going until you saw the flashing lights and looked at your spedometer. Cops LOVE honesty and co-operation. If you seem sincere about everyhting they will probably let you off with with a warning or a secondary violation. I do not know where you are but in Az they have what is called a Waste of Finite Resources ticket. If they feel that somehow they can't justify letting you off with a warning, but that you probably deserve to be cut some slack this is what they'll write it's a $35 ticket and deosnt go against your record. Like I said--Sincere, Honest (or at least come across as Honest) and Polite, Make them have some sort of a this guys's lucks just been down I'll give him a break attitude. That's the real way to get out of a ticket.--AND when he does cut you a Break say Thank You. Cops do NOT have a Quota for writing tickets, but they DO have a Quota for making contact with people--Main reason you'll get pulled over for having a license plate light out, or no blinker or something small and really pathetic.

Turn off your engine.
Put your keys on the dashboard.

That tells the cop that you have no intentions of trying to pull anything fishy. Once that's done...

I always do one of two things. I either strike up some sort of conversation or just be irritated that I've been pulled over (I'm usually irritated if I'm going like 2 over). Keep in mind that a lot of these guys are not where they want to be in life. Imagine how much it must suck to pull people over and deal with angry people all day. They're doing a job, and the easier you make their job, the less they will want to give you a ticket. A lot of these guys never went to college and decided to join the police force because it's good pay for what they have the skills to do. Treat them like people instead of like cops, and you'll be one step closer to home.

Don't send the money at first. Send a letter away saying that you admit that you were in the wrong, but you have had a good record and you don't think it is fair. I had a friend that did this and wrote that he really needed to pee and got out out of his ticket. If you have had a good record for a while they will normally let you off. Best of luck

be polite. Most officers will not stop you except for excessive speed. 5mph is usually the limit. Usually they will issue you a warning. On the hwy,, 65 means 75- 80.

...not so sure if you could sweet talk/bribe one out of it, but you could probably get the fee reduced and what not by going to traffic school as recommended.
Do you have one of those places/services in your city where someone takes care of the situation on your behalf for a price to eliminate the ticket?

if your driving on the highway and your doing 20 plus miles over the speed limit, i suggest that if you see a cop through any one of your mirrors, don't pump your brakes, just let go of the gas and the car will slow down. also don't drive erratic or a highway cop especially will notice.

Tell the cop you were running real low on gas and that you have to get to a gas station quickly before running out of gas.

take the ticket... show up on the court date, odds are the cop will not show up, and the judge will throw away the ticket. happened to me... twice.
