Two possible answers:

In Windows we call what *used* to be known as directories, "Folders" -- so any folder is a directory and any directory is a folder...

But the "Windows Directory" that you see in a lot of software installation/trouble-shooting/etc. is either the "Windows" folder at c:\windows in older Windows systems, or, in Windows 2000/XP the "WINNT" folder at c:\winnt.

Hope this helps.

Go to your My Computer Icon, right click and chose explorer . That will give you the base directories. Go to any one with a + in front of it and click and you will see the sub-directories under it. Windows has many.
