Bless your heart; Registered Nurse here; I strongly suggest you try getting in to see another Dentist. That's ridiculous to have to wait that long for a tooth that is giving you such pain. You are doing exactly what I would recommend to control the pain, Anbosol and Vicodin. The other alternative is call the dentist you have an appt. with on 21st, explain you cannot take the pain and need another prescription for vicodin. If this doesn't work, contact your personal physician. But I strongly recommend seeking another Deni st, also you will most likely need pain medication after the extraction, so be sure and ask the dentist prior to leaving office for prescription.

RE:
How to deal with Toothache Pain?
I have a molar that needs to be extracted (I let it go for a long time, the tooth cracked and one of the jagged pieces that's still sticking out of the gumline is poking the back of my tounge all the time)
The dentist won't pull it out until Thursday Dec 21 - how can I deal with the pain...

Been there, done that, and I feel for you. A few things you can try, are rinsing with warm salt water (as much salt as you can stand), getting in the shower and letting water (as hot as you can take) run over the side of your face that hurts, use a heating pad if you have one (not in the shower, obviously), chloraseptic throat spray, and spray it on the tooth that's bothering you, and take 2 or 3 percogesics, which is an over the counter pain medication that works very well.

Call the dentist back, and say you need an appointment immediately, don't underestimate the amount of pain you're in. Making you wait OVER a week to accommodate his/her schedule is unconscionable. If the office won't give you an earlier appointment, contact another dentist, and explain your situation. Then, switch dentists.

Hey! youve got a non vital tooth, that mean your molar tooth is 'dead'. The cause of pain is most probably your tounge poke with sharp crack tooth. If this is the cause make an urgent appoint to get the sharp edges polished. Then follow the orig.appoint to have your tooth removed.

if - its infected they wont take it out until swelling goes down in fear it may run thru your blood steam this infection.. if it is not then call another dentist or oral surgeon asap. !!! ambisol is astringent alcohol and eats up the gums so quit that.. for the jagged edge take a nail file and file one way slow strokes to get the ruf edge off as some do this until they can get in.. the nerve is exposed so this is the pain an vicodin wont help it for long..

I agree with everybody... find a new dentist or try to get into an emergency dental center. No one should have to live with such pain. Good luck.

If you are in that much pain.. Recall back your dentist and tell him you are in extreme pain and want it pulled today.. Most will..
If not.. find another dentist who will see you immediately.. Most have emergency hours.. Or check your local hospitals dental office..

I just had the same thing. Take some Ibuprofen. Also I found that that helped me more after having the tooth pulled than the painkillers.
