The followers of prophet since Adam up to Jesus and the last prophet Muhammad pbuh has had many martyrs.But I think the most martyrs were in the era of Muhammad pbuh the beginning of islamic religion

It seems that different faiths have different definitions of what a martyr is. In the Christian faith it is one who is killed for what they believe. In the Islam faith it is the one who does the killing. Go figure...

i don't think there is any way to know which has had the largest number.... but i believe that Islam has the highest regard for its martyrs (TRUE martyrs that is, that died for a cause). so Islam would likely have the most recorded

Christianity. Islam has a lot too, but Christianity has more. Sectarianism, crusades, inquisitions, Roman persecution, Jewish persecution and stoning in the very early church, witch trial hysterias throughout Europe in the middle ages, again in America....

I would have to say orthodox christians. over the ages there have been thousands and thousands of martyers in our church. we have been faith for almost 2,000 years and we also have been persucuted through out those years. the soviet union killed millions of orthodox christians that lived in russia, serbia, and romania. also there have been many tyrants that have martered christians even in the early days of christianity. in our services we commerate all the martyers. there have been too many to count.

Christians, since time imemorial, until present there are still many dying for what they believe in, many still being killed just for going to mass, raped, or tortured becoz of professing to be Christians
