really big and thick, or is it regular size, like getting a shot at the doctors office? We have to carry one because of our 5 year old and I was just curious. Thanks.

i've had to use one on my son and thank god it worked. He has a life threatening allery to shellfish and he would have died without the epi-pen. He said he didn't even notice the needle when I stuck him with it because he was too busy worrying that he was going to die.

I have not had to use an epi-pen, but i know alot of patients that have used them in the past. The medication starts working in a few seconds after the injection, and yes the needle is like a regular needle at doctor's offiice.

The effects are almost immediate and the needle is very small, kinda like the insulin needle. Your child may notice a pinprick, but not a big deal when weighed against a full blown anaphylactic reaction! Much better than a shot a the doc's office BTW due to the small bore needle used.

Thank God for the Epi Pen!

My Dad has severe allergies, mainly to food. He carries one with him at all times. The tube is big, but the needle is small.
