It's very quaint. You say that as if most xians have any inkling of the history of their faith.

Though I am only a Catholic, I can assume that the removal of the word "Christ" from anything that has become a part of our cultural heritage would be offensive to "Christians" as it replaces their icon with a generic X. Also, an X doesn't necessarily represent a cross per say. It's kind of like how they stopped saying Merry Christmas and started saying Happy holidays because it was offensive to Non-Christians to imply that the reason for the season was Christ. Bottom line is people are too flipping picky and judgmental. Spell it however you like.

Well, to be fair, it looks like a "+" to me.
X + Y = Because it is degrading to their God.
I am not Christian, but if someone xed out the name of the person I love most in this world I'd be pretty ticked.
Things - letters, symbols - are imbued with meaning by us. Some of those meanings become universal. I guess the "X" seems a little rude when it comes to people's tolerance.
From now on, you are XBoy.
See, you're crying!! That's why!
OK, OK, you can be Larry again.

Yes, of course, Christians took an instrument of torture as their symbol because of who it was that suffered that torture in our place. Glory be to you, Lord Jesus Christ!

Now to answer your question about Xmas - I have no problem with it as a Catholic because its not an English letter x (eks). It is the Greek letter X (chi), which is the first letter of Christ in Greek. In fact, one symbol for Christ that was used throughout the centuries is chi superimposed over a rho (the 2nd letter).

So, abbreviating it Xmas does not take the Christ out of Christmas at all!

it "X" out Christ. That is why we do not like it. and it is not a cross. it is an X after "W" and before "Y". The Cross is a symbol of what Jesus went through for us. It is to remind us of the sacrifice he made for us. Not to torture us. When you face the judgement then you will know what Torture is, to be separate from GOD. That is what hell is.

i am not a christian, but i think it is disrespectful to say xmas. and i wouldnt want someone to do the equivelant to me. and as far as the cristian cross it never looked like this Xor thisx, so try to be a little more accepting of others beliefs. merry christmas.
p.s. jesus died on the cross for thier sins, so yes the cross is beffitting to the christians.

CHRISTians don'd like it because it is one more step to this world trying to exclude CHRIST from everything.
