I remember a few years back, I was just a new Christian, when I found what I thought to be a contradiction in two different passages of the scripture talking about the same event. My heart just about FROZE in my chest! (I'm just being honest here)! I studied and studied and prayed and prayed, and for the LIFE of me couldn't figure out what was happening here. That was on a Saturday. Imagine my surprise when I went to church the next morning and the pastor was preaching from those VERY SAME VERSES! As he was preaching, it became clear to me what I had overlooked in my own studies, but I always marvel at how the Lord works. He KNEW it was a major CRISIS for me as a new believer to suddenly have found perhaps a problem with His trusted Word, and He wanted to reassure me, and He chose this way to erase my doubts.

This isn't a lament, people... it's an observation.
There ARE flaws and contradictions and inconsistencies in the Bible that are as plain as day. They only "make sense" when you put the blinders of religious faith over your eyes and presuppose everything within the book to be true.

what flaws? please be more specific. if you are going to make an assumption about something and act as if you are an authority then you should at least give examples.
I reaffirm my faith everyday when I deal with this nasty world and people. I question alot, I pray, I study and I ask.The same as any intelligent person should do. I have never been to any Church where they discouraged questioning.

You make a good point. Why don't more people question their beliefs more. When you don't quesiton and find out the answers for yourself it leads to blind obediance. Sadly there are many errors and contradictions in the bible, this comes from years of monks transcribing copies where passages were left out or translated wrong. With everything we need to question it. And in most cases we need to ask the Lord himself to help us find the correct answers.

There aren't any flaws in the Bible. The Devil blinds the unbeliever to the truth. They can't possibly understand the Bible because they don't have the Holy Spirity to show them the truth.

I question every day ...there might be some believers who question nothing but there's a whole lot who question everything. Questioning isnt any kind of unforgiveable sin or even a sin. I dont think there is a single aspect of God, religion, the Bible, Jesus... that I dont question.
P.S. Notice all the non believers assuming we dont question.. and all the believers saying "yes we do"

I believe in a concept of God and I constantly question my beliefs. I grow weary of everyone on this site saying you are either a christian or non-believer. There are those of us here that have faith, just not of the Christian persuasion.

Because the only way a Christian can remain a Christian is to follow blindly and not question. Questions mean their very faith is questioned and most people can't handle it.

actually, there are christians who do, it's just the mainstream, megachurch, "I speak for god because i'm his right-hand" types
they become pretty powerful and quickly overshadow the REAL christians who do notice the flaws and question it..
and it's odd how most of the megachurch christians i just mentioned have full knowledge that the book was revised but refuse to accept the fact that mabye there was changes to the bible, i dunno, guess that's just me.

Good question. Usually, it's because if/when they start asking questions they lose their faith in the religion.
