Most modern candles are made from paraffin wax which has a melting point of around 62 degrees Celsius (143.6 degrees Fahrenheit). So what ever method you choose to melt the left over wax it just needs to get the temperature above this point. Freezing that someone suggested is a good idea. Success will depend on the shape of your glass as there is a limit to the amount the paraffin will shrink.
Put the glass in a pot of water (don't let water into the glass with the wax) and heat it over the stove. The temperature of the water will heat above the melting point of the wax. The wax will melt before the water boils. You can then pour off the wax wearing an oven mit to protect your hand from the hot glass (the glass won't be terribly hot, but human thermal pain threshold is about 46 degrees Celsius (114.8 degrees Fahrenheit), since the melting point of the wax is a bit above this it will still hurt even if it doesn't injure you)

Yes. I saw this done by Paula Dean last week on her TV show and it works quite well. Submerse the Glass candle cup about 50-75% in a hot water bath. Leave the water to simmer, which will melt the wax in the candle cup. With Silicone Hot Mitts (do NOT use the cheap water absorbant mitts because you will burn your hands that way) take the candle cup out of the water bath after the wax is melted and pour the liquid wax into whatever container you choose (assummed anouther candle to burn).

heat up the glass candle cup til the candle wax melts, then put on water until the wax surfaces and dries up, over the water. now you've separated the wax from the candle cup, you can throw out the wax,,
just a suggestion,,

Scunci Steamer. I use mine for everything and I have used it to clean the wax out of used candle holders.
I also have to agree with the first answer. Pretty much anything you do to warm it up is the best way to lose the wax and keep the holder to use for another candle.
Good Luck !

Fill it with boiling water in the sink and let the wax dissolve and skim to the top. Empty glass and wipe any last residue with a paper towel. Be careful when handling the jar when hot.
