Has anybody experienced a slight pain after urination and general soreness in the vaginal area during urination, while breastfeeding ? I was recently treated for a bladder infection and I wonder if the infection has remained. The doc. says its because of breastfeeding and the infection is gone. Anyone experience something similar?

I agree that it's either a resistant bladder infection or UTI or a yeast infection.

It's common to have an overgrowth of yeast after taking antibiotics. To be on the safe side you can start taking acidopholus to replace good bacteria. And be on the lookout for a candida infection on the breasts - you will know by sudden nipple pain and sometimes pain deep in the breasts.

Cranberry and Uva Ursi help with bladder infections and UTI's.

To be sure of what's bothering you, I'd get cultures done again.

It probably is not related to breast feeding- Either you have a resistant urinary tract infection or a vaginal yeast infection (from the antibiotics). I would have a Doctor repeat urine and vaginal cultures- If they are negative, then its from "breastfeeding.

How could it be from breastfeeding? i suggest a new doctor and a new urine or vaginal culture.

Also be sure and drink at least 64+ ounces of WATER (in addition to other drinks) a day!-)

I never did, for either of my children. I would have to know if an actual test for the infection was given for the doc to give you that answer. I would talk to another doc... GP or OBGYN. You could have something totally unrelated.

I myself never experienced this while breastfeeding. Neither have any of my friends who breastfed. I would talk to a diff doc.
