ICE conducted 6 immigration raids on meat packing plants around the country and arrested over 1000 illegal aliens that had stolen the identities of US Citizens.

Do you think it was a good thing or a bad thing and why?

Arresting anyone who is doing an illegal act is always good. With the illegals, it is especially a wonderful thing to hear about. I am glad the United States of America is finally doing something about the criminal illegals in this country that are breaking our laws big time. These kinds of raids should be going on on a daily basis. We need to rid this Country of as many illegal alien law breakers as possible.

If the workers are interogated for where they got their fake ID's and those suppliers are prosecuted, if the hiring managers, and the managers who over see them are arrested and prosecuted- it would be a very good thing.

And these companies Fined -Really big time.

Otherwise, its just for political show, and wont have any effect except for some ones political agenda. Its just a drop in the bucket.

Some illegal immigrants may have a second thought this Christmas having returned to Mexico; maybe they will start giving the new Mexican president an earful about getting decent jobs south of the border.

Living in one of the towns effected by the influx of immigrants I think it was a good idea. Approx 500 plus ( if rumours are to be believed), but a substantial number in any case, were questioned, and that is in just one small town. Anyone who is living in the USA legally has nothing to fear from any question leveled at them. But when a high proportion of the local population is without work how can it be right for people who are here illegally to have jobs and thier children attend local schools? Many of the indiginous population has had to leave to seek work elsewhere because as they become of age to take employment there is none left for them. In defence of the employers I don't believe they would take on any workers knowing they are illegal as a heavy fine is imposed on them. I believe they are duped by the false documents presented and have to tred a very fine line as not to be labeled 'discriminating'. Suspecting and knowing that your workers are legal must be very difficult to determin when they turn up with what appears to be the correct paper work. Why would you suspect some one of Identity theft?
So when there is an outpouring of sympathy for illegal workers that have been returned to thier country, thier families and communities broken up maybe some one should ask them before they put down roots.
WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL DID THEY NOT UNDERSTAND ?

I.C.E arrested, and detained criminals that were stealing from the U.S. citizens. Well, because I'm a U.S. citizen, that pays my taxes I would need to say this is a good thing.

These criminals that were arrested were using, fake I.D.s and stolen SS# , so they knew they were committing fraud, thus they knew what was going to happen once they got caught.

I worked in a meat packing plant for 8 years, and seen the way illegals let themselves be used as slaves for a couple years, and know why, the companies prefer to hire illegals.

Yes, it is a terrific idea!!! Why has it taken sooooo long to crack down. I hired cleaners to clean my house, they lied to me, they stole a credit card number and bought a car with it, then tried to get my husbands identity, they eventually they tried to break into my house. These "poor" people don't care about doing the right thing, they are bold, they do take the jobs that 20-30 years ago our people did, seniors, teenagers, single mothers, men, etc. Now everywhere I go I feel as though I am the minority. They demand alot, they polute the air, they don't even attempt to speak English. I was in JCPenney the other day and I almost couldn't believe my ears, they were speaking Spanish over the intercom, same thing happened to at Wal-Mart. I am sick of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They need to go home after all Viva Mexico. They all wan't to be there anyway, so why don't they do something about their own government.

A job well done, about time. Now we need more raids, lets hope this is just a good start. Its time to show these illegal immigrants that they are not coming here and taking over. And one more time to those working for ICE, a job very well done.

It's good if the employers are actually punished too. If not, they'll just rehire different people who are illegal- they won't learn their lesson. Identity theft is a felony and can be a costly one for its victims, so anyone that gets picked up for it and punished accordingly gets what they deserve. It seems like illegals are rarely punished for fradulent or stolen documents though.

About time the did and it needs to happen more frequent. I read that article and laughed that the company tried to get the raid stopped. Went to court and all, and was happy that the court did not stop it. I am against corporations that employ alleged cheap illegal labor. Those jobs could have been done by any American in my opinion. A job is a job and many would like to do them.

First thought I had was a question, "Is there an election coming up that I don't know about"?

Arresting illegals AND those that are suspected of identity theft are always good ideas, but the employers should have been pinched too.

It's about time! It's about time! Identity theft is a crime. Period.
The govenment is not taking out all illegals which it should.
What it's doing it taking out the ones posing more then just the illegal crime. They are targeting Identity theft. Yippie that's a start!!!
