Because I'm on holiday in Perth and it's 2 in the afternoon here so naturally I'm awake. That said I can't get into normal sleep patterns, I wake up before 6 cos it's daylight (so strange flying out of the middle of winter when it's dark until about 8am) because I'm up so early I'm always ready for a nap by 4pm, ah the joys of being on holiday and doing nothing!

Been there!! I know, it's hard.
Some kids just don't need that much sleep. But this can actually be something totally different.

If your kid goes to bed at 7, and then wakes up at that time he's just getting too much sleep. So try to put him to bed a bit later. Maybe he has too much energy and you'll need to tire him out a bit more, before putting him to bed.

Other thing could be, he's hungry! Does he eat well, is he really hungry in the mornings?

There's a problem there somewhere, you just need to find out what. It could be he's scared of the dark, so he wakes up, and then comes and gets you.

You are going to have to look at his eating times, the tipes of food. His energy level, his fears say maybe the dark. Maybe he doesn't like his room, putting up pictures or lights or a rug.

Believe me, once you find what the cause is, you'll be back sleeping a bit longer.
Ours is 5 now,and all he wanted was toys and a light. So once he's ASLEEP we put out some toys at the end of his bed, we keep the night light on. I hear him wake up, but then he'll play for an hour before coming into our room and then getting into bed with us to wake us up.

My sister in law's boy was hungry! She used to feed him at around 4:30-5 and then putting him in bed by 7. Plus he just had too much energy. She now feeds him at 6, he goes to bed an hour later then i used too, and they play active games before having his bath and then going to bed.And now he sleeps fine.

Good luck!

Oh my 5:17am where you are. Yikes! Thats a bummer. It is 12:29am here. I kinda know what you're going thru in a way..My daughter did not want to go to bed last night so woke up as I was gettin ready for bed. I am a night owl since I have a hard time sleeping as it is. Maybe you could put your kiddo in bed with you or give him or her a nice warm bath and see if that helps. :) Good Luck!!
