The guy is a history nut, and (unfortunately) has read all about the Spanish Inquisition, the control the Vatican had over Europe during the dark ages, ect. He's afraid that if he converts, he'll turn out to be the "manipulative" Christian from those times (ie: torturing people to bring people to Christ.)

I've tried about every approach I could think of, but he isn't budging from this mindset. Any tips, suggestions, ect?

First, to all of the people that say "Drop it, move on," sorry. Can't do that. I'm extremely stubborn. When I start something, I follow through to the end, even if it kills me.

I'm not perfect, and never claimed to be.

2nd, to the people saying that I am a stereotypical, self-righteous, know-it all Christian, you are wrong.

I don't shove bibles in his face, screaming "Believe or die." He's been trying to get me to believe that there is no God. So it's more of a long-standing debate between us.

I am not a know-it-all either. I have not yet read the bible, cover-to-cover. I don't understand a lot of things in the bible. I don't know why God even bothers. I don't know why he would want a common sinner. I don't know...I don't know... I don't know. If I listed everything, the list would strech from Australia to London.

Aside from that, I also have the occasional doubt. My faith isn't perfect. Neither am I.

3rd, to everyone encouraging me, thank you.

Sometimes people need to seek Christ on their own. Remember you can't force the word of God on others. I was 27yrs old before I was saved and in my youth I studied Buddhism, the kabahla, the koran and I was raised in a catholic school. I had came to the conclusion that man created religion to teach good moral and I was agnostic, until one day I asked God for help and my life has been blessed since. The only thing you can do sometimes is to continue being a good friend and a good christian and maybe he'll see how the Lord has blessed you and will seek him out on his own.

To bring your friend to Christ, torture him. And if that doesn't work, take his lands and steal his treasures.

But seriously, let the guy be. Christ's message is to spread the good news, not to force people to believe in the gospels. You've done your part in spreading the gospels to your friend. It's now up to your friend to find Christ on his own, in his own time. One cannot find spiritual growth without the freedom to choose his own beliefs, otherwise, it won't be a true. These are questions that we must struggle with, and within ourselves. I'm sure your friend appreciates your good intentions, but it appears you may be taking it too far. You cannot expect your friend, or anyone for that matter, to adopt your beliefs unconditionally - that would be unfair.

I've never heard of people torturing others to bring them to Christ. I have heard of Christians being tortured and burned at the stake for their beliefs. You need to get him some interesting history on subjects he hasn't considered and books he hasn't read about history that are fascinating. Topics on the Reformation, the lives of such as Martin Luther, the story of Corrie Ten Boom, the lives of true historical characters are amazing. John Huss, William Tyndale. There's so much out there - I'd recommend contacting a college professor at a Christian College and ask for recommended resources. Call the Moody Bible Institute and ask who their current history professor is. I'm sure they would be happy to speak with you over the phone or e-mail or something and help you out.

the Masonic order(who are mostly Satanist)still control the world today ,the club of Rome is the Vatican and all popes are high degree masons, and they worship Moloch the Owl who requires Human sacrifice ,these are the leaders of your church.
the torturing and sacrifices are still going on ,maybe even more than ever

the Illuminati have kept humanity divided for 6000 years.
by creating different religions ,hate and wars, and made a lot of money on the conflicts.

they are the decendents of the Anunaki ,who created the Adams race as slaves to mine the gold they were stealing from this planet.

the Christian religion as well as the other organized religions were invented to control and manipulate Humanity ,and the scriptures are full of keys that are part of their brainwashing programs.

all these religions preach love but are designed for murder.
to be part of these religions knowing what they stand for is to condone their past actions

God sacrifices his own son ,and the people symbolicly drink his blood and eat his flesh
this is typical Satanic ritual.
Aleister Crowley an infamous Satanist ,sacrificed both of his sons
there is a lot about him on the internet

Christians fail to see this because they are too close ,a distant view is nessecary to have a glimpse at the truth

read David Ickes ,bloodlines of the Illuminati and the biggest secret on www.infowars.also check Alex Jones ,dark secrets in Bohemian Grove

some things may seem far out ,but so are many things in the bible ,of guys with wings(these were the illuminati and the wings were symbolic of flight ) ,and big white fathers in the sky
Also check Anunaki PDF,
and Nephilim watch(these were the sons of the Gods(plural)as mentioned in genesis,
Gennesis is full of exstraterestrials
hope this will help sorting your friend out

First of all, that belief is unfounded because even though history may repeat itself, Churches today are generally not in favor of torture (at least that's what I thought...)

Ask some people close to you to pray for that person, perhaps in a sunday school class, or just other friends you have, or even an older person who you might see at church sometimes.

Let him know that there is no official religion in the U.S. and people are trying to suppress Christianity as much as possible.
Christianity isn't about torture. It is a decision that every person must make on their own.
God convicting people to turn to him is not something that can be accomplished by "Christians" killing and torturing people. That just makes them feel more and more oppressed.

It is not oppression to tell others about Christ. (Believe me, most people in the US don't know the meaning of oppression as it is in countries where children get sold as slaves and girls must turn to prostitution just to get by.)

Look, the Catholic church has been involved in some bad stuff, but that is, of course, because it's bigger and stronger than anything else. With so many people, all sinners, we can't expect it's "shadows" to be perfect. If he's educated especially on history, have him consider wether the wars were about religion or money. The answer almost always comes down to money. Plus, remind him that any priest will bless any army.

once you your self not act as a christian and take ethical values gently how are you able to convey yet another man or woman to christ? why human beings hate christians? One important reason is this form of twin character. they say they are christians and do all style of immoral issues. intercourse outdoors marriage is forbidden in christianity. dating with a non-believer is basically too forbidden. in the previous turning that guy or woman on your faith you repent your self and get forgiveness from God the father in the time of the blood of Jesus. This dating is outdoors God's will.

Hello there!

How wonderful of you to try bringing your friend to The Lord.

Well, if he is big on history, give him a Bible to read. It's full of history. That's all the story he needs, to learn of The Living Christ. Assure him that most Christians do not become manipulative Bible thumpers. But that we are called to share "The Good News".

But keep in mind, you can only show him the way. It is ultimately up to him to accept The Lord.

Just keep him in your prayers, for The Lord to help show him the way.

I hope all turns out well!
Take Care! :)

NO. Stop trying, leave the poor guy alone. You are perpetrating misinformation and don't even realize it. Just my opinion, no disprespect intended. The hour is getting way too late to offer polite lip service to religion. In a world of atomic weapons, it is not acceptable anymore to pit one "true" god against another. Those that believe in Allah would like to see the infidels die. Christians would no doubt like to return the favor. After all, what have they got to lose. Heaven awaits. NOT. Need I say more?

tell him to just be himself. The problem with a lot of christians is that they don't know how to do that...they've been raised wrong and many just don't know how to relate to people. He, on the other hand, was not raised in the church. He doesn't have anything to worry about...much less killing people unless there's something he knows about himself that you don't...anyway, sometimes you just can't convince people and its okay. Sometimes its just up to God...
