Turn your cell phone off make sure your friends and family know not to bother you during this time, that it is study time.

If you make it at a set time of day it will help you get into a routine.

Never study in the same place that you sleep, to leads to day dreaming and dozing off.

I have been told the rule of thumb is for every one hour of class time you should schedule 3 hours a week for it if you want an A.

Start scheduling your day. Break your day down to 15 minute increments. Then go ahead and write in all the "fixed" appointments and or tasks, IE, classes, work. Keep in mind that your mind absorbs better when it is not crammed with information, 10-15 minute intervals are ideal for actual studying, like for an exam. Make reminders for yourself on your schedule of upcoming exams. Like 2 week, one week, 3 day, etc so you don't forget about it. When you go to schedule your study time think about what part of the day you are most alert, schedule study time then. When you do you will see how much study time magically appears.

Make flash cards whenever possible and punch a hole in the corner so you can put them on a D-ring or shower hook. Keep them on you so that if you are stuck in line somewhere (traffic is a bad idea) you can whip them out and start going through them, it helps the time pass and it makes better use of it.

Be prepared for class, Make sure you have read the material that will be covered. I usually read it through once, then read the Chapter summary questions and go back and see if I can answer them. If I can I know that I grasped the text. If you are buying your books don't be afraid to write in them. If I have a question I either underline it in pencil or write it out on a little sticky note and affix to the area of the text it pertains to. This ensures that you won't forget your question when you are in class.

Note taking. There many different methods, but most important is for them to not be all cluttered and jumbled, and for them to be neat and legible. I take book notes before class then lecture notes and compile the two after class. It serves as another review when you do it and it keeps you on top of things. Anything that is a topic that is really detailed or doesn't stick easily, put it on a flashcard on that ring.

For studying alone: If you like to play games or go on the computer, move it before you start studying. then, you won't be tempted to play on it when you're studying. if you need to eat, then wash some grapes, put it in a plate then eat it while you're studying. for breathing, open your window so that a fresh breathe comes in once in a while write a list containing what you want done on that day, and tape it to the wall in front of you. write persuasive things on it so that when you're tempted to do something else, look at the paper and you'll remember studying is more important. it all come down to initiative. for sleeping, sleep for at least 10 hours (or as much as you want if you can) on the day before so you won't be sleepy keep your cellphone off too! you don't want to start texting your friends when you're in the middle of studying Studying with other people: get some of your friends who are good at school and get together to work on homework or a project. then you guys would be able to share your ideas and opinions, which is better than doing work alone, but usually more distracting (if they're talkative)

Are you in college? If so, the best way to improve study habits is to treat college like an 8-5 job. Between 8 and 5, it's either class or studying. No napping, no IMing, no games, no TV, etc. You'll get stuff done during the day and have time to yourself at night. Try it.

Study is a general practice that finally sized as habit in school days under parental dictates and loaded home works towards gearing up for knowledge. Skill is a technique that serves as apetizer when supplied in school days or college days but more warrantly in higher education that demands patience out of excessive course load. Dividing each para as answers of certain associated question serves as an easy means to proceed but interest is mostly generated when it releases some happiness and that is possible if it's importance in real life is sketched in mental front. Involving friends or known scholarly brains to site something really very interesting attached to it is an added advantage in pushing mind to allign towards the prescribed books as the best fit

Seriously, the best way to improve study skills is to do a little every day; review your stuff as soon afterwards as possible; make 3x5 cards for memorization work; and don't try to learn it all in one sitting.

Reading the book instead of viewing the movie is the best way to see what the writer designed. Reading uses your creativity, hones your reading skills, and can improve your vocabulary

Put down the remote, put away the xBox. Read, read and re-read. Take notes, listen, ask questions when you have the chance. You will retain more what you write than what you read or hear. Try taking notes on important elements of the material your studying.

Go somewhere else other than your bedroom, the house, thekitchen.
Go to the library. Force yourself to study there. Have a study group. Then you cannot make any excuses.

Study what your taught everyday thoroughly. don't be lazy even for a single day, if you miss something, make up for it the next day, keep all your notes and homework up to date, and learn daily what your taught in class.
