Why do so many believe that the bible is the only word of God when other scriptures have been found? Isn't it possible that God had prophets in other parts of the world at the same time he had them in the middle east?

Are the other writings compatible with the message of the Bible? It is not reasonable to assume that they could all be right , since the messages of the writings often conflict with one another. Some people say that all religions are equal, that they are all just different ways to come to God.
However, if you think about it, does it make sense that the God who created the universe, and everything in it, who made it all work so precisely, would say, "Just make up whatever religion you want - however you want to worship me will be OK...?
It does make sense that such a precise God would also creat a particular way to be worshiped.

Actually this is part fo the very thing that makes Latter Day Saints differente than other christians. They believe that after the ressurection Jesus came to the Americas and spread his word. This is a handy explaination for some of the prohecies and legends that the indigenious peoples of Central America had about physical appearances they would have never seen. The writings of these people make most of the Book of Mormon.

Good question. Multiple prophets is not a foreign concept if people know their Bible history, since Israel sometimes had two or more prophets living at the same time. But remember that people often want to believe in a literal one-item paradigm, it's just easier to comprehend.

You are right. God teaches mankind from eternity to eternity through His Divine Messengers such as Zoroaster, Moses, Khrisna...We will only have unity and peace, when mankind learn to realize this truth through the process of Progressive Revelation.

God has supposedly spoken to Mohammad, Moses, Siddartha, Abraham and countless others. Although, if someone claimed God had spoken to them today, he would be quickly sanctioned, labeled a blasphemer and institutionalized. Why? Because it's not rational.
