I'm surprised your dermatologist didn't give you or at least recommend a face wash. From personal experience, any face wash that has benzoyl peroxide in it will help clear up your face. It may irritate your skin though since you are using other topicals, and for that i would suggest getting an oil-free moistureizer to put on after everything else. You might be able to get some moistureizing face washes.

Try those suggestions, and whatever you do, make sure you stick with it for at least 2 weeks. It takes time to see results with this stuff. Also if you are not improving, talk to your dermatologist about changing your pills and topical stuff. It could take a few tries before you find the right combination for your skin.

Hey I was on Retin A Micro too. I was on the purple tube and the gray tube...the purple is stronger. I am allergic to benzoil peroxide so i could not use Pro Active. I did the retin A micro for about 3 months and it did clear up my skin but it left my face really dry. i did not like the way my skin looked. I am African American so my skin is a little different but I ended up ditching the harsh chemicals and going all natural. I now use all Burt Bees products. The tomato complexion soap and blemish stick are great. I go once every three months to get a microdermabrasion and maybe a chemical peel during the summer if my skin is oily. i have clear skin now. Very subtle and smooth.

I had an acne condition (very mild) when I was a teenager 30 years ago. There use to be a product I used called Listerex Medicated Scrub, made by the folks who make Listerine. This stuff worked like a charm. I have to believe the graininess of the gel (sand like grain in the gel itself) is what really opened the pores allowing the dirt to be washed out.

I would definitely look for something like that if you can find it. I believe the scrub I used back then is no longer on the market.

No miracles I am afraid. Either you are born with good skin and don't even think about it, or you are born with bad skin and spend your entire life trying to fix it. The best thing you can do is drink lots and lots of water and mosturize as much as possible. You would be surprised what drinking at least 8 or more glasses of water a day will do for your skin. It is as close to a miracle as you can get.

if you are using retin-a you want to use something mild that does not contain any medication-benzoyl peroxide inactivates retin-a and salicytic acid will make you peel. cetaphil is a good face wash. you will also need to use a moisturizer with a sunscreen in it. i don't know how long you've been on retin-a, but if your new to it....it will get worse before it gets better. hang in there-it takes about 6 weeks for it to start looking good.

Ask your Dr. about Duac Gel. It's worked wonders for my acne/rosecea. Good luck.
