I believe in God or a God. I am a good person, I pray to God for help when I need it, I praise God for the help he gives me. Ihelp out those who need a helping hand maybe not so much financely but emotional wise I do. I do things in my life that I believe he would condone. But I don't attend church or read the bible. So am I wrong because I chose to honor God in this way instead of the church way.

No, you are far from wrong. There is a big difference following God's way (the Holy Bible) vs. how man celebrates God in the church. I often meet good and geniune people who do not attend church. And, I often meet bad and flaky people who do attend church. Also, visa versa. It does say in the Bible that God wants us to go to church though. My opinion is that he meant to go to church to fellowship w/ other Christians like yourself because it is very important to be around other believers (you can be accountable w/ one another and encourage one another through Christ). But, when rules and regulations of the church come into the picture, that is when I believe the church tends to forget their very purpose, to serve God. My advice is do what you think is right inside your heart. Only God knows your heart and motives. And, live according to what the Bible teaches you because that is God's very words.

There are other ways. If you could get into heaven by doing good deeds and being a good person, then Why did the Messiah go to the cross?
No one can obey Gods commandments, This is why a way was prepared. Jesus said, If you love me , obey my commandments. There is only one place to find them.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. No man is good, not one.

Try reading Gods word and find out what you need to know.

God bless you.

You honor your understanding of the divine through your actions. How can you be wrong for living a good life and doing good works?

Since you mentioned the bible I assume your understanding comes through Christendom and I will share with you what Jesus said were the two things everything else is based on.

Love God and love your fellow man.

God prerest in every living and non lining thing in the world. If you love God's nature, human beings and help them then you are so close to God. If you remember god and chant his name then your body and soul will be a Church itself.

No you're not wrong. You are your own Church. I'm the same way. I have a very personal relationship with God and know him well.

It really doesn't matter what any of us here think concerning your choice of worship. What matters is what God thinks and what he says. The Bible tells us that we should congregate together to encourage one another and more so as we behold the day (Jehovah's Day) drawing near.
