Just so you know, I'm Christian, to make a long story short. I just didn't imagine it would be that bad.

yes, you're taking Christ out of the holiday.

Your cousin is a little whiner, and not a very educated Christian.

Christmas is sometimes shortened to Xmas, an abbreviation that has a long history. In early Greek versions of the New Testament, the letter Χ (chi), is the first letter of Christ (Χριστός). Since the mid-sixteenth century Χ, or the similar Roman letter X, was used as an abbreviation for Christ.

I am sure the omnipotent one is way too busy to be concerned with such trivial things. He probably thinks it's cool! Like when he is strolling by the pearly gates, St. Pete's all: Yo X! What it be? And Christ is like: It be cool St. P!

If I were your cousins, I would be offended at the fact you didn't put Christ in your sentence. Although the greek letter X does infact stand for Christ. Saying Xmas isn't as bad as saying "wintermas" or such. But I do believe it is wrong. Remember that Christmas is God's time of year, not the X's. I wouldn't go as far as saying blaspheming, I would go as far as to say it was very wrong. Christ died for you on a tree so that you could live without guilt and then die, and go to be with him. Don't you think you could at least put HIS name back in HIS holiday?

Actually the reason people use Xmas is because the Greek letters chi (x) and rho (r) are combined to make the first letters in Christ. You're not being blasphemous, you're shortening a word but there's no harm in saying Christmas and when you say Xmas, you're still saying Christmas. Blessings.

Christ never was in this Christmas season. He was born in the Spring or Summer. Look in the Bible. You people think theres shepherds with sheeps out in the night in December? Go visit Israel, so you may know such idiocy as Christmas in December is not right. Celebrate His birth every day of the year, not only one day... and especially not on the day that has nothing to do with His birth like December 25.

i really dont see what's so wrong about this, okay so it's lazy to use the X instead of the whole word but...

NEWSFLASH PEOPLE:
Jesus wasn't born in december, the bible says that the shepards were grazing their sheep in the mountains at the time of J's birth (or something like that) and at that time of year, in those regions there is no way any shepard worth his salt would be anywhere near the mountains, they would have their sheep in fields in the lowlands, it has been proven that it was more likely that J (if he even existed) was born in september... so what does Jesus have to do with a celebration in the middle of december anyway?

Yes and no....Yes, it is offensive to leave the Christ out of Christmas, since Christmas is the celebration of Jesus' birthday, so if that was your motive (and it usually is in the US), then it wasn't right.
But TECHNICALLY (and don't try to use this if you were really doing the above) the X was first used a a word for Christ in the Greek. I can't explain that one precisely, but you can look it up on google or somewhere, I'm sure.

Your cousins were right, I’m afraid you’re going to be gently lowered into burning lava, and then it’s off to the “worm dieth not” department, and then Lucifer is going to shove an enormous flaming torch up your butt. And that’s only the warm up and after it the real torture will begin. Just kidding of course, now go in peace and sin no more.

remind your cousins that God had an overall message in the Old Testament, and Jesus reitterated that same message in the New Testament.

And just what was that overall message?

Harmony is harmony.

Disharmony is the only sin against God.

Who is sinning in regards to that tree? You or your cousins?

You are not sinning on that issue. How do I know? Because you said, "I can admit to being wrong." - Those are words of harmony, your cousins were using words of disharmony.

But, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

It depends on how religious you are, and how religious your cousins are. If you and they are very religious then i would say that it isn't a total offense but it is removing "Christ" from the holiday which is really what it is all about. If you are not very religious or if they are not very religious I don't think it is a big deal because many people do this and it is common in the U.S. to hear x-mas used.

Merry Christmas!
Merry X-mas! :)

Depends on the motivation behind saying X-mas as opposed to Christmas. Right now saying "X-Mas" is being used in a hurtful manner towards Christians.
