Every time someone steps up and tells everyone to just try to get along and love one another, someone kills him. I think we’re sending a message that we aren’t ready for that. What do you think?

If people were ready for peace, there would be peace now.
Peace will come when people are ready for it.

There will be no peace until the Lords return. All this talk of peace is nobel and worthy but unfortunately we have said bye bye to times of peace as we have known it.

I think people have a strong desire to return to a time when the world was more peaceful as it has been in centuries past. The world has become "smaller". Television has allowed us to view every horrible thing that happens across the world. And the weapons we have now can affect people world wide. It is not as easy for people to feel safe.

But again, I'm speaking as a christian. When the world seems to turn upside down...I know I don't have to fear it. I have a comfort that is stronger than anything happening in the world. It may seem silly to some, but that is how I truly feel. We can have peace in our hearts even if the world around us seems to fall apart. That is a huge comfort to me as a mother. I just thank the Lord that I have that peace.

The message of Jesus was so radical that they didn't just kill Him, they made a huge deal of it and executed Him as a criminal.

Sometime it would seem like half the world would believe the Pope or the Dalai Lama was the anti-christ. These things are ridiculous.

If I say abortion is a failure of society and a gross disrespect for life, I'll make people angry, but am I actually wrong or just radically right? And this thing isn't even new...

That's a very good question.
People seem to be ready for that which lets them be at peace; yet are very willing to live in a way that does not allow, or in a way that promotes another's not living in peace. They're all-too-happy to not look when they know it's there, when they know it's not hard to find.
People have been led to believe that the American dream can be bought, and if it can be bought then it's yours and not theirs.

Its mainly Satan taking control of this world. But some people are influenced by Satan and his dirty deeds. The people that follows Jesus are ready for peace. Satan has corrupted this world really bad. Lot of killings, robberies, raping, drugs. Its really hard to live life with faith. But I have lots of faith in Jesus. That's the only thing that is keeping me going. Satan and his followers will always be belligerent and at war with someone until Jesus comes and gather his people. Then and only then there will be world peace.

I think this question doesn't belong in Religion & Spirituality categories as I think that is part of the problem for peace (religion is). To answer your question, yes, I'm ready for peace to ring throughout the lands.

"C'mon, people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together, try and love one another right now."

I think the problems lie in the government. They do not want peace. They cannot control their people with peace. They instill fear so you listen to them. It's like being in a controling relationship. Just trying to scare you into doing what they want you to do

And could religion function with peace? Religious leaders are fear mongers too. "If you don't behave this way you will burn forever in hell."
