Get a statement from them so you have some proof they lost it and a number to call to verify the statement. Then go get a new one and show them the statement and have them call the number and verify the facts so you can get a replacement at no cost to you other then the time it takes to do it.

The only situations in which I've ever heard of police confiscating someone's ID is either when they are taken into custody and booked into jail, or when the ID is a fake. I'm guessing you fall into the latter category. There is nothing you can do, except get another one.

They are not suppose to retain your ID, unless you are booked.In which case your possession are kept in an envelope, and returned to you when released..I guess that the only thing you can do is to try and get a replacement.

report it to the sergent, then I'm sorry your going to have to get it replace on your own cost. Least til they figure it out....
