bunch of golfers bragging about their golf game and how far they could drive a ball. A "not so good" golfer was in the group and bet them that he could hit a golf ball, on a straight (no obstaclel, no hills) over 350 yards maybe even more. They all said no way and took the bet. He told them he'd call them the day before he was going to do this and where. On a VERY cold day (had been real cold for days) he called them and told them to meet him at a near by lake. When they all got there he stepped out on the glass like ice, took a three iron and hit the ball. It skid along the ice forever!!! When making the bet, he didn't say when or where he would do this All was legal. Bet won!l

a gambler that was nicknamed titanic thompson did that during the depression. he hit it on one of the great lakes and it was said to roll about 2 miles. so this is a true story. and probaly the background of ur story. titanic could play scratch left handed or right handed. look it up , he is an historical figure. no more for playing poker than golf.

Sounds like a great idea. I might have to go out on the ice and do that this weekend. Win the bet, then i'll take my buddies out for some lunch. Happy Holidays.

You can actually PUTT a ball 350 yds on ice, which would make it an even cooler bet.

In my area, the guy would get paid because he won the bet, but then he would be used for bait for ice fishing.

Sure, you know that was in tin cup as well. He hit the ball down the road. This will not work. Don't even try it, you will end up with the putter/3 iron wrapped around your head.
