The title explains itself, I'm thinking of changing my name to Katharine.

Names have meanings; so, look that one up. Type in baby names or name meanings in google. Sometimes the name you have suits you more than you think, but if you like Luara better and feels it suits you more, go for it.
I personally think it's a little bland, but still pretty. It all depends on how YOU take that name and make it your own, you know? Sure, there are other people with the name, but live like it's yours and it'll only BE yours.

Anything but boring. Keep the name and change the spelling as in German, "Lore," from Lorelei. Pronunciation similar to lore as in legend or story and ruh as in rum [drink]. Lor-ruh. --- If you want some kind of change, this is it and still keeping the given name.

Laura is a pretty name, Katharine is pretty too. I wouldnt change it.

i can go both ways on that one. on one hand i think that u should like the name that ur mother gave u. cuz it obviously means something to her or she wouldn't have given it to u. on the other i like Katharine as well.

A bit bland, yes. You could try the name Laurel — it's pretty and reasonably rare without being too over-the-top.

i know some crazy lauras. . . it isn't the name it is what you make it!!!!!!! if you feel like a katerarine go for it . . . but laura isn't boring!
