Wow! I don't think anyone knows what you mean by "Q"?
The first 4 books of the New Testament are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They each told what they knew and had heard from, and heard about Jesus. Some people doubt their honesty because each one is little different. I am a retired Federal Investigator, and I would doubt their honesty if they were all exactly the same.
The importance of these books of the Bible, is their coverage of several of Jesus' preachings and teachings.

Ask your professor if anyone has every found a Q document. There is not one shred of historical or archaeological evidence that the thing ever existed! There was a common story that circulated that Mark, Matthew and Luke would have all been familiar with. Does that mean there must have been an unknown Q document? Not necessarily. After an historical event like the resurrection of their rabbi how could there not be many similarities between the gospels they wrote?

Although they are very similar in text, they are three different perspectives. So it is thought in regards to "Q" that Matthew and Luke simply re-wrote Marks text. Not true. They are three separate accounts but are similar because they facts are the same, yet a different view in presentation.

Each of the Gospel writers presents Jesus to us in his own characteristic way. The greatness of this person could not have been captured in one picture. So we have four portraits, each bringing out its own distinctive facets of the character of Jesus.
Matthew concentrates on the relationship of Jesus to the Jewish faith. He shows how Jesus came to fulfil the Old Testament, but at the same time to judge the Jews for their unfaithfulness to their religion.
Mark emphasizes action rather than teaching. He stresses how Jesus taught his disciples that the Son of man must suffer and be rejected, and that they must be prepared to tread the same path.
The gospel of Luke stressed the blessings of salvation brought by Jesus. It emphasizes the signs of the coming of the Messiah, prophesied in the Old Testament, and seen in Jesus' healing of the sick and preaching of the gospel to the poor and needy.
Finally, the gospel of John reveals Jesus as the one sent by God the Father into the world to be its Savior. As the Son, he has his Father's authority, living in close communion with him. John goes deepest into the things God has revealed and brings out the eternal significance of the "God-become-man".
Sorry, I don't understand "Q"
Hope this helps

That is a question in World Religions & Belief class? Who is 'Q'? I think you need to find a different class run by those who know about world religions.
