One of the most disconcerting things my cats do is sit or lie down some paces away from me, keep absolutely still and stare and stare and stare at me. Makes me very self-conscious. I keep a hand mirror beside my computer for such occassions so I can check if I have grown whiskers or something.

But when I am on the floor... they come a lie or sit down on the floor with me expecting play time.

Cats usually give you this glassy eyed stare as if to stay "Get the heck out of here!" A cat will never move if you tell him to. To get him up you literally have to dislodge him like a piece of gum that's stuck on the floor. The key word is stubborness. A cat will not move unless he is inconvenienced. Good luck!

I believe there was a prank advice line for cats in my nephew's Nick Magazine. It said that if your human stares at a piece of paper for a long time s/he thinks it's a pet, and that you should go lie on it to remind them what real pets look like. Yeah... My cat lies on it THEN looks at me like a jack hole. lol. cats are funny.

My dog lays on teh floor next to where ever I am and then when I try and slide her out of the way or step over her she jumps up and follows me.

Depends on which cat you're referring to in my house! I have 1 cat who is the dumbest SOB you ever met and I swear he doesn't care what you do to him, then we have a couple who if you just give them a nudge it's enough to get them to move.

They'll remain lying in the middle of everything getting in the way until I start yelling at them, then they move out of the way very fast, give me the evil eye (but at least they are out of my way). Later on, we kiss and make up.

Definitely not, but a vaccum cleaner always helps to show who's the boss.
