I always go into the middle part of the loaf of bread and get a slice. I never eat the first or last. Most people never eat the first or last cause it not soft like the other slices. But when you get down to those last two and no more bread one will eat it then only.

No, it's crust. When the bread is baked, it's browned on all sides, so basically, that's like having a piece of crust instead of a piece of bread. And it's not soft pizza crust we're talking about here, it's disgusting hard bread crust that nobody really likes.

The 'Heels' as we call them are nasty!
Its just like a massive unnecessary crust!

Why is it always old folks that like them?
I think that its because of the war years and the waste no want not mentality deeply ingrained from past times. But thankfully were now past all that so i say "END THE SUFFERING! BAN THE NASTY HEELS!" my hair is too curly anyway so im a bit biased!

I want instead, 2 NORMAL slices of bread for my 85p!

I eat them, but only if the bread is really fresh or I have the chance to toast them.
If I don't eat them, I still don't through them away, I grain them and use this for breading fish etc.

Nope I usually make a PB&J sandwich out of them for my son since he loves the ends on bread.

I personally dont eat them either for sandwiches , really i dont know y . lol . But i will use them for french toast if it is just a plain white bread heel, cuz when you use thicker bread for french toast it comes out really nice.

My wife and 2 kids (and usually me) just toss them into the trash. I'll use them occasionally, but I always put the crust on the inside of a sandwich when I make one!

I don't eat much bread but I will eat the heels. The extra crust does not bother me.

not sandwich bread- but with french or sourdough- YUM. I don't know- the heels usually seem tougher or something. Mental programming from childhood I guess. :)
