Well, in some areas the Quran IS scientific, and scientists (today or a million years ago) found some discoveries that were already (before) stated in the Quran. (ie: earth is round, the palace underground in the mid-east, etc.) But, in areas like Adam and Eve (human), it is not scientifically based, but based on your faith.
Right now, in some parts of the Quran, there are things that muslims don't understand. But when it said the earth was round in the Quran before Chris Columbus and everyone found out, it was not understood. It was said in a way that cannot be understood until you know what they are talking about. (like a metaphor or something of that sort)

BOTTOM LINE: Some things in Islam or what scientists found out later, but not all of the concepts. Also, you cannot understand the whole Quran because there might be a certain message, like a scientific discovery, that hasn't been found yet and it doesn't make sense until after you find that discovery.

Firstly, we believe in Adam and Eve, they were the first humans.
Muslims do not accept the theory of evolution by means of natural selection as the way species were created. All species are immutable, evolutionists say the contrary, but yet they havefailed to show a species changing from one form to another. They only hypothesize, that over long periods of time, selection drift will do this. Its a delusion, think if a cow mates for millions of years with other cows, at what point will it change? Natural selection may remove those organisms who carry harmful/useless alleles but natural selection will NEVER add any genes to the DNA of organism. I am science student, and I have studied it thoroughly, one day God-Willing, I will be able to disprove evolution as the means for speciation thoroughly by explaining on a genetic basis it doesn't make sense.

the koran depends on scientific data to authenticate itself but it does so in an unscientific way--that is, after the fact it uses that same fact to explain itself. freud did the same thing with his theorizing.
