Try typing msconfig in the run. Then go to the start up tab, uncheck everything there, then restart you computer..That may help if there is another program that is causing a problem upon start up. If that works, run msconfig again go to the start up tab again and put check marks next to the important programs, like anti-virus, firewall.

For the post above windows 98 did not have restore points. Only windowsME, 2000, XP, and Vista

Try a system restore. Go back to a date when all was well with your pc. Then restore. Not sure what limewire is.

Check all your security measures and make sure you have a good anti-virus program in your pc. I heard of a virus that is taking a few files away at a time until you pc crashes. Can't remember the name of the virus that does that.
Good luck.

try reinstalling over you current installation. Your documents will be preserved and it should cure your problems at least for a while.

Then back up all your data and do a clean install.

If you dont have win98se i would advise you upgrade to xp unless your computer is very old.
