I dont want things to be awkward between us and he's told me he liked me... but we are just friends. He's thinks that this is a real date and i dont want to hurt his feelings but how do i tell him i just want to be friends without the awkwardness?

Sorry to break this to you but you cant do it without hurting his feelings. The nicest way would be "I'd love to go but I think it would be best if we went as just friends. We could still have a great time and everything!"
