Your son needs to know how to sew on a button and cook an egg. What happens if he never gets married, or marries a woman who (heaven forbid) works outside of the home and leaves for work before he wakes up?
Your daughter needs to learn math and science so she can do things like calculate her grocery bill in her head, figure out which gas station has a better deal on gas, know what chemicals might blow up if she's mixing cleaning supplies, etc.
All kids should be well rounded and well versed in all subjects, and it shouldn't matter what gender they are.

Yes men and women should be held to the same academic standards! What makes you think that a woman can't be just as good in math and science as a man? Sex has nothing to do with it at all. Your son has to take home economics in middle school because not only is it part of the curriculum, but also he needs to know how to cook too. You can't expect him to order out or eat fast food all the time when he is living alone can you? Would you want to cook your sons meals for him when he's in his 20's and living alone?

It is not only fair to hold men and women to the same academic standards but it is only right and unless you have been hiding under a rock for the past 35+ years you ought to know that women as a group are no more naturally suited to home economics than men are to math and sciencel!! What's wrong with a man being able to take care of himself, knowing some basic skills around the house??? Is a man supposed to have some kind of a mental impairment in that way, so that he's a loser slob without the basic skills any person needs, while at the
same time being a genius in math and science??? Think about your question and how ridiculous you sound.

Why shouldn't they be held to the same standard? So your daughter is doing the hard sciences, good for her! Maybe she will become a doctor or scientist. Perhaps she's wired for it. Me, I'm spatially wired. I can't do algebra or calculus to save my hind end. But turn me loose in geometry, trig. or physics... And home economics? Every guy should know how to do basic stuff around the house. Cooking, cleaning, laundry. Never have to rely on someone else. Self sufficient. And she should learn basic car maintenance if she is to drive.

That's what most public schools do. It doesn't matter about there gender when it comes to academics. Unless it is a private school they are going to then I have no idea. The only thing that boys and girls are seperated in by standards is physical education. For expample at 13, a boy is expected to do at least 10 push-up where a girl is expected to do at least 6. Other than that, I know nothing.

Where have you been living 1962? Grading in math is rather cut and dry. It eather adds up or dosen't. From what I understand home economics is not even being offered in many of the schools noe. I think for the most part you make up your questions and situations.

om, it shouldnt be forced upon ur son to be taking home econmics and NO it is not unfair to have men and women equally challenged and given the same standards. its based on the individual whether or not they achieve in life and how smart they are and how much effort they make. no sex is smarter than the other!!!

graded in math and science like she was a guy.
I didn't know there was a gender way you could be graded.
& men should learn how to cook and sew.
If you want there to be equality among the sexes thats how it has to be.
This question was quite ignorant.
If you want your daughter to grow up to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen not being able to vote
and your son to think thats right, then continue this question.

By the way, congratulations on receiving -38 points this week! I guess the dumb questions do count for something!

No, I do not feel it is unfair. I am higher at math and technology than such a lot different scholars in my elegance. and might be this son wont ever get married, then he might be pressured to prepare dinner and deal with his possess self. And what if he will get married and his spouse does not understand how to prepare dinner? What then?
