1 Corinthians 13:1-8a and 13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Why? Because the object of all spirituality is LOVE.

I really don't have a favorite Bible verse; I'm just now learning how to study the Bible properly, so I can do what the Lord commands in Matthew 28:18-20: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you, and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
To me, these verses mean that, whenever I am teaching someone, and I get tongue-tied, (which happens frequently, lol), or something traumatic is going on in my life, or I feel lonely, the Lord will never leave me alone to battle this world all by myself, and I love Him for that.

Proverbs: Chapter 8 verse 22-33:
22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor athe highest part of the dust of the world.
27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
This was the first verse I learned. The whole passage is beautiful. It reminds me that God will take care of me if I trust in him. I just need to take one day at a time.

Isaiah 55:8-9 comes to mind. I wrote two college papers on this subject in my freshman year. Basically it keeps life in perspective reminding us that God is higher than we are and that no matter how smart we think we are, He is still higher. Therefore, when we are stumped by something, we can know of a surety that He knows our answer and if we ask with humble sincerity, and if there is a real need to know, then he can inspire us to find our answer. It helps us to be humble before Him.

This is my Fav Bible Verse!!!
Read and You'll Understand Why!!!
The GREAT FATHER above a SHEPHERD CHIEF is.
I am His and with Him I want not.
He throws out to me a rope and the name of the rope is love
and He draws me to where the grass is green and the water is not dangerous,
and I eat and lie down and am satisfied.
Sometimes my heart is very weak and falls down
but He lifts me up again draws me into a good road.
His name is WONDERFUL .
Sometimes, it may be very soon, it may be a long long time,
He will draw me into a valley.
It is dark there, but I'll be afraid not,
for it is between those mountains that the SHEPHERD CHIEF will meet me
and the hunger that I have in my heart all through life will be satisfied.
Sometimes he makes the love rope into a whip,
but afterwards He gives me a staff to lean upon.
He spreads a table before me with all kinds of foods.
He puts His hand upon my head and all the " tired " is gone.
My cup he fills till it runs over.
What I tell is true. I lie not.
These roads that are "away ahead" will stay with me
through this life and after;
and afterwards I will go to live in the Big Teepee
and sit down with the SHEPHERD CHIEF forever.

I like the Book of Job. I know it's not a verse, but it is a good reminder that everyone suffers.

I favor the entire prayer of Jesus in John 17, however I especially like verse 3 as much as any of it.
3. "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
This tells me that in order to have eternal life in heaven with God, you must 'know' God and Jesus.
The word for 'know' in the Bible does not mean to know of, but to be in relationship with. To the Jews is what sexual intercourse, but here it is just an intimate knowledge of.
