This is typically done with a large industrial sprayer. And before the house is finished! It makes one helluva mess! Are you sure you want a popcorn finish? They are a pain in the butt to paint later on. I just had to do an entire house with popcorn ceilings in FL. Not a fun job. You can purchase the popcorn mixture at Lowes or Home Depot and probably rent a sprayer. But I'd invest some money in plastic! Cover EVERYTHING, because you will find it everywhere when you're done. Once you have the right equipment and product, I'd start in a closet for practice to get the right spray pattern. You can really mess up a ceiling if you don't know what you are doing. You can always hire someone to do the messy work. Good Luck.

Hi. I'm not really quite sure, I was young when my parents hired someone to do ours. They had a paint gun (it was pretty big) of some sort - a hose is connected to it and then placed in the container of paint. You may have to have a certain type of paint. Then they aimed the sucker at the ceiling and "popcorn" shot out and stuck to the ceiling. I would call painters in your area or like an equipment rental store. Our local True Value has things like this to rent and diy. Hope this helps a little!! Good luck!

Are you sure you want to do that. You can put a thin coat of dry wall compound on the ceiling and sand it a little (skim coating), which is a pretty good fix for minimal ceiling problems. I think the popcorn ceiling has to be sprayed on (not sure). Go to the Rent-A-Center and talk to them. Good luck. Then repaint with a primer, "point up" (re-do) with the dry wall compound, where necessary, and paint with a good quality ceiling paint.

Menards has it in a spray can otherwise rent a sprayer from your local rental outlet. They'll tell you how to use it. Do the ceiling before the walls and lay plastic on the floor

You need to hire a professional. They will kick you out of your house the entire time, and it can be VERY damaging to any furniture or carpet.
Your house will actually be higher in value if you don't do it.
