The messiah has already come. His name is Jesus Christ.

We are waiting for the one that the prophets spoke of whom will bring all of us back to the land of our fathers, rebuild the House of YHVH in Jerusalem, end all war, put an end to idolatry, rule the world from Jerusalem, and he will be a descendent of David via Solomon. The concept of a messiah that Christians have is quite different from ours. The Christians believe in more of a savior who takes away sins and is either God or the son of God.

They are waiting for Jesus Christ but they are unaware of that. They are awaiting a messiah who will also be a great warrior. They did not recognize Jesus as the messiah 2006 years ago.

The Talmud says that the messiah will be a bloody one, conquering the "goy" by the sword, if you know what I mean. Jesus himself commented on this in the New Testament, saying they were wrong for expecting a messiah like that.
