There are multiple buddhas. Considering a Buddha is thought of as a "teacher of the gods," I would think that a Buddha would win. :] God, or gods in general, don't have human emotions.. a Buddha achieves Nirvana through suffering and has overcome temptations, while a god supposedly appears out of nowhere sin-free and all magically perfect. Either way, I'm not Buddhist or Christian, but I still think a Buddha would own God.

Regardless of what people think, the dhama/teachings between Jesus and buddha runs very similar. Since I am a gnostic and value the real Jesus and read what was before 4th century, pre-nicene before the corruption and editing, I have to say without a shadow of a doubt, Jesus is the man. In reality he is not God, so I guess sine this question is from the prospective of disenfranchised modern christianity (no offense, it's true) I pick buddha by defeat, since it wasn't God-centered (although he never said there wasn't a God, but that many are constructs of mind) and other things of course.

The Christians believe none can compare their God with. He is one and only one God who created the whole of universe including Buddha, Laozi, Confucius, Hitler, Satan, angels etc.. There is no question of anyone for comparison. So the winning question does not arise as far as Christian God is concerned. Maybe Buddha may be set to compare with any other religions. You will not find any winner. Every religion will claim that they have large following. Strange to say, Jesus said the path to eternal life is narrow for wide is the road that leads to condemnation or hell. So take care. You will be surprised that the number of Christians in the book of life is the minority. Those who would be saved and safe will go through Judgement Seat of Jesus.

it's a silly question so i'll give a silly answer:
alrite, christian god would demand buddha's servitude then
take his anger out on buddha, who would not even notice. christian god would then accuse buddha of satanism and Buddha would then say something like "I live in Joy, in love, even among those who hate."

Buddha was not a god
Buddha was not fat
Buddha would still win though, intelligence and genuine purity defeat superficiality and spitefulness

Buddha encouraged for you to find your own path, Jesus acted like he had done everyone a favor for dying for their sins and is capable of sending people to hell for stupid reasons like not believing in him

What god asks for you to love him??? He is not human, there is more to life, existence and emotion than loving a god, god is not arrogant, if he is like that, i'm screwed, i'm going to hell

Buddha encouraged finding the truth for yourself instead of having the bible dictate your life, especially in modern society with written texts from 2000 years ago, are you out of your mind? do you even want to think for yourself?

in my eyes, Buddha would win any day

Buddhism, I am sorry to tell you is not a religion. The Buddhist will be the first to tell you that.

Buddhism worships no God or Gods. Sure they have little fat Buddha statues, but those are reminders of their philosophy and guideline on how to live.

Confucious and Jesus taught almost identical philosophies. In fact Confusious said, "as a man thinketh, so is he" thousands of years before Jesus was born on Earth.

That is not criticising Jesus in any manner.

My personal philosophy: (which I just invented this moment)

Which is greater, the person who originates a "maxim" or the person who recognizes its wisdom and applies it in such a way that creates harmony among God's children?

Confucious and Jesus both taught the importance of us forgiving other people. (by any standard, that is one powerful message.)

Buddhist leaders do not deny God, or Jesus as the son of God. They simply feel that they will reach Heaven (Nirvana) when they have learned to live without any Earthly possessions.

A comedian once said, "we are possessed by our possessions."

If you are a Christian, please remember that, "Jesus is my saviour too."

Buddha never claimed to be a god. He was a prince who had a good grasp on people and their problems.
