Okay, sweetheart.
Your tooth would have broken, no matter what you were eating. When that happens, it's just time for it to happen. Your tooth was most likely decayed to the point of brittleness.
The pain your experiencing will only get worse. If you get to the dentist soon (tomorrow or Friday), the tooth may be able to be saved w/ a filling. It will most likely need to be root canalled. But that is a good thing. Root canals don't hurt and the tooth will be saved!
If a root can won't save it, or you opt not to get one, an extraction is most likely the only option you'll have left.
Tell your mom. Get to the dentist.
I know you're scared, and I understand that, but you need to be a big girl and face your fears. If you don't, you'll be at the dentist a lot more getting them pulled out one by one.
Good luck, Bridget.
Happy Holidays!

Yo Bridget ... snap out of it! If a 'small piece of a tooth' is missing and there's a 'small hole', your tooth is decayed. It could actually be decaying to the point of being hollow, and at some point, it could literally snap off. You feel the discomfort of the cool air when you breathe because the nerve is exposed (inside the tooth - due to the decay). There is no way around your problem. By the time you actually feel a cavity, the decay has reached the nerve of the tooth ... meaning the decay is pretty advanced. Get it taken care quickly or you'll loose the tooth! Ever hear that old adage: Ignore your teeth and they'll go away! It's true!!

Ibuprofen has always worked best for tooth pain for me, but you don't want to take too much, too often. How long before you have insurance? A lot of dentists will make payment arrangements with you, if you have a means to pay. Are you working at all? Could your parents or family help you? Sorry, I know how miserable tooth pain can be.

Bad teeth run in my family so maybe your teeth are different but I had a piece of tooth break off quite a few times before I started high school. Tried getting a couple fixed several times, but it never lasted very long. My teeth were starting to crumble and and I already had quite a few back ones out. I finally just had them all taken out and got a new set of false teeth. Some people thought I was nuts for doin that but it is a lot better than putting up with the pain of a broken tooth over a holiday weekend when there was no way to get the pain stopped.

You may have an exposed nerve. This can only be fixed by a dentist. It will only get more painful and you could lose that tooth. you are too young to lose a tooth because of this. Unless you are a big fan of pain tell your Mom so she can get you an appointment with the dentist before they close for the holidays. They can sedate you and you will not know a thing.

Well, my husband is 21 years old and was eating a vanilla tootsie roll and half his tooth came out in the tootsie roll. He took some ibuprofen, tylenol, and ambesol. However, none of this helped. You really should tell your mom so she can take you to the dentist. I know how scary it can be, but it could get so much worse if you don't. You can ease the pain temporarily, but not forever! I'm real sorry--but you will be so happy when the pain is over!! Good luck

You might have cavaties. Go to the dentist a really good and nice one.

Don't drink pop or eat sweets for awhile. Don't chew gum.

Maybe you can get mouth number stuff or take pain killers but not too much!

I hope I got you started on a good start and sorry for a painful mouth!

Hey hun you really want to go around school with a whole in your tooth. You should use some whats it called, well if you go to a local pharmacy you can buy a gel you put on your tooth and it sorta numbs it and makes the pain go away, i still think you should go see a dentist. They can fix it, and tell your mom... :)

You might temporarily find some relief, but if you leave this untreated you will (notice I didn't say might) get an abscess and you will either lose the tooth or face root canal to save it. Your choice. You want this hanging over your head for the holidays? I wouldn't.

Go to the dentist, he won't hurt you. he will probably put a crown on it. If you don't go it will always hurt especially in air or eating cold foods. And It could turn black.
