I would use a metal container and transfer my warm coffee to the cup. Some materials that coffee mugs are made of don't take kindly open flames. (differential heating=crack!)

TRY A HOBBY SHOP OR A PLACE THEY SELL CANDLES.
THEY HAVE A LITTLE WARMER THAT WARMS AND MELTS THE CANDLE INSTEAD OF A FLAME. IT MELTS SLOWLY AND ONLY HAS ONE TEMP. IT DOESN'T GET HOT ENOUGH .USUALLY CANDLES ARE IN GLESS JARS AND SEEM TO BE MORE BREAKABLE THAN A COFFEE MUG OR CUP SO I THINK IT WOULD KEEP YOU COFFEE JUST RIGHT.

sure, you can, but it'll give off a nice odor, too. I've done it loads of times, and the whole house ends up smelling like whatever was in the cup, but hey, what's wrong with your house smelling like Starbucks?

I think that London Drugs, and Radio Shack, or Circuit City carry these items.
