Qur'an 3:64-71 Surah Ale-'Imran (The Family of 'Imran)
Say: "O people of the Book! come to common terms as between us and you: that we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not from among ourselves Lords and patrons other than Allah." If then they turn back say: "Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to Allah's will)."
Ye people of the Book! why dispute ye about Abraham when the Law and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? Have ye no understanding?
Ah! ye are those who fell to disputing (even) in matters of which ye had some knowledge! but why dispute ye in matters of which ye have no knowledge? It is Allah Who knows and ye who know not!
Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a Christian but he was true in faith and bowed his will to Allah's (which is Islam) and he joined not gods with Allah.
I guess he submitted his will to God (Muslim from the word eslam meaning submit ). In the understanding of the philosophy of the 3 major Abrahamic religions, he is more likely to be a Muslim.

ABRAHAM WAS IN THE MIDST OF LAND PIRATES
Abraham believed there was a God that owned everything. Because Noah and Shem [ Abraham lived 25 years more than Shem ], had been saved through the flood, and the life sustaining earth was sacrificed, that would have to be made new and perfect again, 2Pet.3:13; he had faith that God had great plans for man.
Abraham really believed in God he was 427 years after the flood to get the Promised Land covenant.
Half million heirs were in the Promised Land 897 years after the flood. Moses dies.
Judges 11:26[ 301 ]; 1198 years after the flood.
Samuel of Acts 13:20; at 450 years after first judge Moses is 1307 years after flood.
Moses heirs 897 to 1Ki.6:1; 480 years 1377 after the flood, Solomon dies in 36 years 1Ki.11:42; 1413 after the flood.
IT IS 997 YEARS TO CHRIST IN WORLD EMPIRE #6. Christ told all about Abraham.

Heb 11:8 Having been called out by faith, Abraham obeyed to go forth to a place which he was going to receive for an inheritance; and he went out not understanding where he went.
Heb 11:9 By faith he resided as a foreigner in a land of promise, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the joint-heirs of the same promise;
Heb 11:10 for he looked forward to a city having the foundations of which the builder and maker is God.
Heb 11:11 Also by faith Sarah herself received power for conceiving seed even beyond the time of age, and gave birth; since she deemed the One having promised to be faithful.
Heb 11:12 Because of this came into being from one man, they who were generated, and these of one having died, seed even "as the stars of the heaven" in multitude and countless "as sand by the seaside." Gen. 22:17
Heb 11:13 These all died by way of faith, not having received the promises, but seeing them from afar, and being persuaded, and having embraced and confessed that they are aliens and tenants on the earth.
Abraham believed what God said and that if He made a promise, it would come true.

Surah 3 Ali Imran (Imran prophet family) verse 33 Allah had selected Adam,Nuh/Noah and Abraham/Ibrahim and Imran family were more than any other humans at that time..Verse 65 Hey holy book followers why you were quarrelling each other about Ibrahim/Abraham ,while Torakh/Taurat and Injil/Bible had been given after Abraham era.Did not you think it carefully ? Verse 67 Abraham was not a jewish and a christian, but he was in the right and straight path and he devoted his life to Allah and he was not included to musyrik or infidel..Verse 68 Really the hu mans who were very close to Abraham were his followers and
this prophet (Muhammad pbuh) and his followers believed in Allah as their protector..So I think Abraham's faith was Islam or monotheism religion.

True, the Law did not exist for Abraham.....but he did believe in the Oneness of the True God. All of his ancestors worshipped many gods. God revealed himself slowly over time.

I would guess that he followed a religion similar to what was followed in Ur in Mesopotamia, since that is where he came from. He seems to have had a strong faith in God.
