The internet can be a danger to kids if parents don't prepare their kids for the dangers. Talk to your kids about the do's and don'ts. Really, it's the same do's and don'ts of everyday life.

Talking to strangers is not dangerous, it's putting yourself in harms way while talking to the anyone, stranger or not. Your child is in more danger from bad family members or friends of the family than strangers. So the solution is teach your children good contact and bad contact. This include talking and touching. One is real life and one is internet.

People can lie. On the internet and in real life. The "stranger danger" classic is "your mom sent me to pick you up. she's had an accident." many children will immediatly go with the stranger. They can also lie on the internet. The classic "18 year old cheerleader" that is actually a fat, bald old pervert (note, i'm not bald).

some internet sites are for kids. other sites are for adults. other sites probably shouldn't exist for either, but we do have freedom of speech. educate your children to what and why there are differences. and you can add safeguards that will lock out most adult sites (net nanny), this keeps the child safe from accidentally entering www.whitehouse.com (porn site) instead of www.whitehouse.gov (a different kind of adult site).

Same thing is true of real life. Some books (say penthouse) are ok for adults, but not ok for kids. No matter how hard you try to hide them, it seems kids can find them. Kids can be tought not to look if they find one - or added protection, keep them in a locked drawer. kinda like a net nanny.

Supervision is also important. Would you let a 12 year old wander around times square in new york alone any more than you should allow a 12 year old complete unsupervised access to the internet. Trust and verify. It's called parenting.

Everybody has access to the Internet from people next door to people on death row. I don't have anything against kids using the Internet but in my opinion since I have nieces old enough to get online I feel like myspace should be for people 18 and older because haven't you noticed how much myspace is in the news? Well, my niece is 13 and she has a myspace that says she's 16 and on her page she had sexual things. I'm 19 with a son & step son and I don't even have sexual pictures on my page. But, she wont listen to be. She looks young in the face but her body is grown and now peophiles have access to her page and her picture. Its easy to convience a teen to meet because most of they're friends are doing it anyways. To me that's the dangers this men & women that have problems and infacutations with young kids and now the internet lets them in to our childrens lives and mines. It's scary! Hell, I'm scared to meet people off the internet and I worry everyday because there's scams and stuff where people can hack into and get all your information. So, I think its dangers for everyone on the internet.

There are sites that are just not appropriate for children to look at and there are also child predators in chat rooms that look for children to victimize. On the other hand, there are things on the internet that can help kids with their homework, answer questions that they may have and you don't have the answer for right off the top of your head. So, if your child wants to get on the internet, either have very good filters on your system that prevent obscene, non-child friendly sites from coming up or sit with your child and help them surf.

There are so many dangers on the internet. Pornography, pedophiles, websites talking about how to make bombs and what not. Children need to be taught what is appropriate and what is not. The internet is a wonderful medium, filled with a lot of positive things. It is a way of learning that is at your fingertips. But, it is also filled with weirdos, too!

YOUNG, IMPRESSIONABLE CHILDREN ARE LOOKING FOR ATTENTION, any way they can get it. So wether its a guy online telling them they are pretty or a young boy looking for his first porn pics. All you have to do is click OK when it asks if your 18. Thats it.

Your kids can go to UTUBE.com and find home made bomb directions. Ways to stimulate yourself (i.e. the pass-out game)

You can find porn, cults, perverts, adults pretending to be children, children pretending ot be adults... Take your worst fear for your child, then multipy it by everything out there.. That is the internet.

Even worse:

GO to 411.com and click on reverse phone search. Next type in a phone number of a friend, relative or neighbor and see what comes up. You can generally get phone number, address, etc. This can allow for anyone (who pretends t be a friend) to look up your address, and come find you. My sisters friend did that . She was 13, met a guy in a chat room, talkted to him for a couple weeks, then gave her phone number, he would call her and they would talk. They would make "phone dates" one day she was home from school and waiting for her phone date when the door bell rang. It was a grown man, who she thought was 15. He forced his wayinto the house and violated her. He was able to get all the information he needed by the internet.. local schools, teachers names, hangouts, parks, etc.

You also have people who scam. My neighbor got caught using my space and telling guys she was 26, when she was 14.

well the Internet is only a harmful tool if you allow it to be. if you can show the child/ children what sites their allowed to go on, and say that nothing else is allowed there should be no problems, but if you say what they cant go on you could be in trouble. the Internet can be less harmful entertainment for a child than television, but it can be much much worst, it all depends on how you approach it with the child.

The internet itself isn't harmful to children. The only thing harmful about it is when parents treat it as if it is a babysitter.

The internet is just not harmful to children, it can be harmful to adults also. You have to educate yourselves before allowing your kids to use it.

i'm Apple, too. :D regularly to do with the computer, although this is not any longer as common getting access to the internet on telephones and such. undesirable on the eyes. the reason behind it is is because human beings have a tendency to renounce blinking as typically as they oftentimes do, so their eyes dry up somewhat. would led to hunched backs because the computer is only too low. Radiation all round undesirable. like you already stated, dependancy --> lengthy sessions without getting up and shifting round; no exercising --> weight income which will or gained't ultimately bring about weight problems; butt and leg issues.

Sex abuse spreads widely in the internet. And everyday, the age of victims is getting younger and younger. You need to guide them when they're using the internet. Do not let them surf the internet by themselves.
