Have a look at the appliances he already has. If they're all non branded he probably doesn't care, if they're all super hi-tech brands and features are probably important to him. MOst people, let alone guys can tell the difference by the brand, some just don't care.

Uh yeah, it is called brand names. There is a difference between a Sony DVD player and an APEX DVD player. Cheap DVD players are not the same as expensive ones.

DEFINETLY...I mean if you like to stay updated with technology, Personally I live for it. Whether it is for computers, stereos, DVD's, Sound Systems, Etc,. Honestly if you buy the one's that have a VHS and DVD together, he'll know its old, but if its a DVD alone, then who knows....Especially now that Blue Ray Disc players are coming out soon....woohooo

yes, unfortunately guys can tell the difference. they have a sence for that kind of thing. Like we women can tell the difference between Dooney & Bourke or Gucci and a knock-off version that looks almost exactly alike. Freaky huh?
