Is there anyone that has tried to ferment and brew a tea/alcohol combination? Or use the tea as flavor after the fact? I would like to know..just curious...They are both amongst the to 5 most popular drinks in the world.

I have used tea as a mixer, it is pretty good with rum or vodka. Don't brew the alcohol due to the fact that you would lose some of the alcohol while heating.

I have used raspberry tea in a batch of red ale I made, just steeped 10 teabags after the boil settled for about five minutes, it turned out great. Really more raspberry aroma than flavor. I am planning on making a coffee beer here sometime soon. Try it if you want something new, you won't be disappointed, just make sure you use it like you would making regular ice tea, follow the directions and make sure you do not boil the tea. Also If you have never used heather if you can find it fresh, makes a great alternative to aroma hops

you can't ferment tea per se, no sugar or starches to ferment in the first place. And I've never tried to ferment a sweetened tea beverage.

And I don't like to spike my tea, if I want alcohol in a caffeinated drink, I'll add the booze to coffee. In tea, it just doesn't taste right.
