Despite the fact that the satistics show that the people who are most affected by illegal immigration is Black Americans. Polls show that 56 percent of Black Americans want illegal immigration stopped. Even the great leader Booker T. Washington said, "immigration should be curbed so Black Americans can fill the openings in the booming industrial economy".

AID the problem with your hypothesis is the fact that any American of any race would be happy to pick fruit (shoot I would) if it payed a living wage; however, because there are people who come to this country willing to work for less it undercuts the American worker. Not to mention the fact that it has brought down the wage of every American who has a High school diploma or less 7 percent. The facts are endless that it is hurting Americans and the facts show that it is hurting the Black Americans most of all. So why shouldn't Black Americans stick there neck out? Because it is hurting them most of all.

Frag, you are worng. A Zogby poll show that 56 percent of all Black Americans see illegal immigration as a serious problem. You have Black minute men and you have Black Americans who are protesting very loudly. You just don't have any of the Black leaders who are out spoken about it.

Loretta, you are correct whites could fill those jobs as well. The point of the qoute of Booker T. Washington was to show that a black leader a long time ago was able to see the potential harm of mass illegal immigration.

Zell, whether you have voted for them or not there are many prominent Black voices out there. Revern Jesse Jackson, Al sharpton, and etc. These men claim to stand up for Black civil rights, but as illegal Immigrants continue to gain more ground Blacks will lose more ground. Fact after fact says that Black Americans are the most adversly affected by illegal immigration. So, your leaders are missing the boat.

Sqwirly, you automatically lose any debate with your first sentence. The moment you call someone a name you lower yourself to a point where you opinion no longer matters. Not to mention the fact that your statement makes very little sense.

Cay, the very point that Booker T. Washington saw it as a problem nearly one hundred years ago should make us even more aware now. The fact is throughout the entire period that you state, all the nationalities combined (Irish, German, Italian, Latino, and etc) ,equaled less than the amount of mass illegal immigration in the past 10 years.

What would Booker T. Washington think now? If he thought it was a problem when it was at less than half of the capacity it is now he would probably be one of the loudest voices against it today.

The black leaders are gutless just like the white leaders of this country, they are afraid of a few marchers and of not being politically correct. Political correctness is killing this country. Plus the black leaders don't want to be perceived as racists. Now if it was white people coming across the borders by the hords, the black leaders would be throwing a hissy fit, and calling for strong immigration reform.

Booker T. Washington also lived nearly 100 years ago (he died in 1915), when immigration was open and unrestricted. In 1924, the US Congress passed the Immigration Act, which set quotas for each country based on the percentage of people of that country currently in the US.

The problem blacks faced in employment wasn't so much the immigration as it was blatant racism by the white business owners toward the black people. They preferred to give the jobs to immigrants from Europe, Asia or South America, even when equally or more qualified black candidates existed. And if the immigrants weren't around, then they would have just given the jobs to other whites. The immigrants were just a convenient excuse to avoid giving the jobs to blacks.

I agree one hundred% with those people who are in opposition to Illegal immigration. All the speak misses a practical factor. This nation is headquartered on legislation, no longer an emotional outburst approximately households. The legislation Reduce chaos, maintain a democratic society in tacked, and permit for this nation to exist so long as it has. The Minute we abdicate this accountability, we're lowered to being uncivilized. Illegal immigrants haven't any loyalty to this nation, disrespect the legislation, scream for bi-lingual schooling due to the fact that they're not able to or to lazy to mlearn the English language

Black leaders really dont work for the best interests of the black community. Its a sad shame that black kids have to share inner city schools with illegals when those schools are bad enough without them, and when all thats happening is more is being taken away from the black student who is an AMERICAN CITIZEN.

No one is stoopping them from picking the friuits or veggies, they are fluent in English and have better jobs, also they just finally getting respect so why should they stick their neck out for others at a bit lower scale? Iam Puertorican and I learned that I was brown when I first came to New York at 9 yrs old , before that color to me was non -existant! We are all inmigrants , the only true native is the people who were here when Colon stepped in 1492, and the blacks were brought in as slaves ,not of their own volition, Hispanics of the new world have a high percent of native blood, a bit of African and a bit of European , we come like the rainbow , we have black maddonas, black apostles and we are a mixture of the new and old world, we have as much right to live anywhere in this new world[America] as any one else! Our ancestors travelled in canoes all over North , Cetral and south America ,we are following their steps. Hugs.
