Fly a lot. I have the phobia too. Eventually you will hit some really bad turbulance, then comparing that to regular turbulance will make the little bumps seem like nothing.

You might check out some sites on fear of flying. The statistics are extremely safe, so it will reassure your mind. From there you just need to learn how to cope with the fear. One thing I learned was to not tense up my legs. The increases the heart rate and stress level. Try to relax your muscles and take deep breaths. You still might be scared, but your body will handle it better, so it won't be as bad.

Choose an airline with a good inflight entertainment like radio, movies and games to keep you entertained and forget about your phobia. Listening to some relaxing music can bring you to sleep and don't forget to put the "do not disturb" sticker on your seat. Always keep in mind that commercial aircrafts have the most safety features as compared to any other means of transport.

By supporting Bush and our troops in fighting the war against terrorism; then you don't have to worry about religious fanatics blowing you up in the air or crashing you into a building.

Seriously, everyone has some sort of anxiety/compulsive behavior--fear of the unknown in a simple language. Yours happens to be fear of flying, (my grandma's is fear of pathogens which is why she's a clean freak). The best way to handle your situation is to "face your fear", practice doing what scares you. You can engage in activities that interest you while flying, and try condition your mind to believe "there's no problem" by constantly thinking of your past successful flight when you start to get scared. You can also fly with people that you love, that are not afraid of flying. When you see their confidence and fearlessness, while interracting with them, you are bound to be relieved of your fears.
