A good cut is EVERYTHING! Depending on your stature and face shape, a good stylist will give you a cut you can work with and will be happy to give you tips for different ways of wearing it. Relaxants go a long way. If you don't already have a defuser for your hair dryer, get one. The less you fuss with the curl the better it tends to look.

I have the same kind of hair as you and I either wear it up or I style it down. All I have to do when I wear it down is put a bunch of mouse in it, blow dry it if you feel like it, and then hair spray on top. I do this quite often but if you don't feel like blow drying it, then you can let it air dry and the curls are not as tight.

I went through the first 45 years of life asking the same question. I thought I died and went to heaven when I found a straightening iron. Get one that is at least 2-3 inches wide. Practice. I think you will love it. Also, get a professional haircut.

You can do your hair half up and half down. You can try doing two french braids. You can also have two pigtails half up.
