he sits and enjoys the ceremony:) Often, there is a part of the ceremony right after he walks down the aisle were the officaite asks "How gives this woman to this man?" The father then says "I DO", gives her hand to the groom, and sits:)
Sometimes, the father will do the prayer before the meal, he will usually give a speach at the reception, and there are also occasionally dances including the father/mother and father/daughter.

There is usually a father/daughter dance at the reception and sometimes the father gives a speech to the new couple.

My father stood there with us while the pastor asked if we were willing to be each other's spouse (NOT the "do you promise in sickness and in health, etc etc etc), then he lifted back my veil and kissed me on the cheek and sat down in the first seat in the bride's side.

I just got married four days ago.

Once they get to the front of the church, he stands there and waits for the pastor to welcome everyone. The pastor will say something like "Who gives this woman to marry this man?" or "Who brings this woman...?" The dad then says, "Her mother and I do" and lifts the veil off of her face (if she's wearing one). He then gives her a kiss and takes her hand and puts it in the groom's hand. Then he sits down.

I love Rascal Flatts and "My Wish" is a great song. I say go with this one or even use it as a mother/son dance since it can go either way. Love the song and best wishes for your marriage!!
